Being an adult means to have a speedometer that marks 210 and not driving over 60

Classes start tomorrow. D: I am torn - I'm irritated at the fact that I'm just lazing around the house doing nothing, but I hate the thought of having to go through another semester of school again. Ahhhh I seriously just want to get this sem over with already and move on with my life.

I remain cautiously optimistic of the upcoming semester. :)

I've been in Manila for a little over two weeks, and I just got around to unpacking my suitcases yesterday. I was feeling productive. :P For some reason I always get the urge to clean my room and rearrange my stuff at around 1am.

Terminator Salvation

(screencaps from flickr and Sam-Worthington.net)

I saw Terminator about a week ago and I LOVED IT! :)) I acknowledge the fact that the franchise has lots of gaping plotholes, makes things up as it goes along, disregards continuity, and contradicts itself, etc, etc, but I love it all the same. MOAR TERMINATOR PLZZ
Pagbigyan. Its the only shoot-shoot-bang-bang action movie franchise that I actually enjoy watching. Also, I'm a sucker for anything involving time travel.

One thing I didn't like about the movie, though - the cheesy lines from the previous Terminator films. I can maybe forgive "I'll be back", but "Come with me if you want to live" was just ech. :\ And I somewhat refuse to believe that Edward Furlong!John Connor grew up to be Christian Bale!John Connor. How could John Connor have gone from being all "Hasta la vista, baby" to "We will all die!" and screaming/glaring at everyone for 3/4 of the movie? Granted, fighting in a war is definitely a life-changing experience and stress levels are probably pretty high, but I think Christian Bale's John Connor was a little bit too intense. :S Well, Christian Bale himself is pretty fucking intense so, yeah.
He's just a ~serious actor~, kamon. I love him though, BaleOut and all. :))

And umm ANTON YELCHIN! YESSSS :))
I've been a fan of his ever since I saw him in Delivering Milo, and since Star Trek came out a month ago it has definitely been a Yelchin-filled summer. :))
Pero aaargh di ko pa napanood yung Star Trek :((

Annnd because I am a total dork:

OM NOM NOM
Fighting the resistance makes me hungry - turns out Marcus wasn’t the only machine-human hybrid. harhar

Shaun of the Dead

(screencaps from scarletumbrella and Peggster.net)

This is the first zombie movie that I've enjoyed since Night of the Living Dead. Zombies tick me off for some reason, and watching zombie movies is frustrating. Its not the zombies really, but the people in the movies - they're in hiding, trying to stay alive, and yet they manage to do the most inane things that more often than not attract the zombies' attention. :\ Also, zombies gross me out.

That said, my favorite part of Shaun of the Dead was actually David's death scene. So morbidly funny - especially when they started pulling his guts out and his tongue was sticking out. Hehe

Hunting And Gathering (Ensemble, c'est tout)

(screencaps from Audrey-Tautou.org)

Ever since I watched Jeux d'enfants, I've been on a Guillaume Canet & Marion Cotillard kick, and Hunting and Gathering is the first on a long list of movies.

Some parts of the movie were confusing, but I blame that mostly on the wonky subs I downloaded. For some reason, the subs that came with the .avi file didn't work. :\ My favorite character was Philibert - if there were more people like him, the world would be a better place. Haha :))
Even after watching the movie, I still didn't get why it was called Hunting and Gathering. :S

Let The Right One In

(screencaps by mouthfullofdust)

I heard about the movie before I read the book, but I really wanted to read the book first in case the movie butchered it or something. Buuut I loved it! :)) Even though a lot of stuff from the book was omitted from the movie, it was still great. I don't think you can compare the book with the movie because they're so different - they tell the same story, just in completely different ways (both great, though). Truthfully, I'm glad they cut what they cut because I didn't really want to see that in motion. :S

The actors did an amazing job - especially the girl who played Eli. :)) An American remake is about to be made, and is slated for a 2010 release. They're changing the names from Oskar and Eli to Owen and Abby. Ehhh, Abby isn't a very androgynous/unisex name, and Owen is significantly less bad-ass compared to Oskar. :S I don't know if they're including the EVERYTHING about Håkan, but if they are I hope they handle it decently.

Definitely watch the original first before the remake comes out (or better yet, read the book!).

Love Me If You Dare (Jeux d'enfants)

(screencaps by Marion-Cotillard.org)

Omigosh I loved it! :)) Marion and Guillaume have such amazing chemistry (and they're a couple in real life!). As bad as it sounds, it was probably some sort of blessing in disguise that Guillaume and Diane Kruger got a divorce because now she is with Joshua Jackson (and they ALWAYS look so ridiculously happy and in love), and Guillaume is with Marion (who ALSO ALWAYS look ridiculously happy and in love). :)) Both couples look perfect together - its hard thinking that Guillaume and Diane were even married at all. And from what I've heard/read, they remain friends - so I guess its all good. :S

Getting back to the movie, the ending was hard to accept at first but watching at again, it sort of made sense. Hah. Well, there were probably less drastic ways for them to be together, but ohwell. I get it. Sophie and Julien could never be a normal let's-go-to-the-movies-and-have-dinner-after type of couple. Their romance and relationship was based on the game, and playing the game brought out the worst and best in both of them. At the same time they were happiest whenever they were playing - so I guess in a way the game WAS their relationship, but underneath all the dares there really was a genuine love for each other, they just couldn't express it without using the game as an excuse. So I guess the final dare made sense - a way to be together and a way to prove just how much they loved each other. It was romantic in a sad way. Haha. I dunno, I'm definitely not the best at explaining things.

Buuut I like to think that they did grow old together in that nursing home. :))

Glee

(screencaps from gleeclub)

GLEE!!
I decided to download the pilot after everyone raved about the rendition of Don't Stop Believing on the show. Since I am a sucker for Journey (and I FRACKING LOVE THAT SONG), I gave it a try. :)) So amazing. I have so much love for this show. Now that Pushing Daisies is gone [ :(( ], I'll at least have something to look forward to in the FallTV Season. Ugh, why is September so far awaaaay?! :((

Watch Glee! Its such a fun show - kind of like High School Musical, but better since they don't randomly burst into song in hallways that are strangely plastered with gigantic posters of the star Basketball player. Also, Kristin Chenoweth guest stars! :))

If you're downloading, I suggest you download the unaired pilot. They moved around a lot of the scenes and deleted a few for the aired pilot, which made continuity a bit iffy.

If you've actually made it this far, congrats! Haha
I didn't think anyone would actually read through all of my movie/TV-related ramblings. I just needed a stress-reliever post that I could look back on during the sem. 8D
