The best ever easter weekend...

On Friday I went across to York and saw Suzy and Sim, as well as everyone. Suzy was showing me the pictures they took at band practice that day and afterwards. They're actually some of the most hilarious photos I've ever seen. We spent a while walking aroung town, then her, Sim and Lee were all going to a show and since I didn't want to go I headed back.

Then Saturday was work work work. I met Lee after and we just watched Amelie here. I felt bad cos I invited him over to leeds and then I was boring and didn't want to go out.

He crashed here, then yesterday we went to the Armouries and ate some easter egg. The armouries are pretty wierd, but I still like the Elephant. And the gift shop. I have many photos of lee posing in the shop and round the museum in general.

(that is dragon-horse, FEAR HIM! )

Then yesterday I went over manchester to see Bis at Satans Hollow. I got myself checked into hatters, and found my way back to Satan's from memory. I thought that was pretty good, considering it's been nearly two years since I was there last.

So after I got myself a drink, I made sure Satan was still there: -

Then I watched the support bands. One was a sorta fifties rock n roll band, and the other was The Star Fighter Pilot, who was either a pretentious arse or a complete genius. I'm still not sure which. Maybe I just don't like solo act boys who went to film school and tap beer bottles like they're cow bells? But nice work with the syths anyway.

Then along came Bis, who were absolutely outstanding. The gig was the most fun I've had at a show in ages. I danced so much and everyone seemed to be having a great time, especially the band. It's actually been a while since I listened to ' New transistor heroes' but I remembered everything word-perfect. And by the time they did 'Kandy pop' as an encore I was singing along like it was 11 years ago and they'd just done that same song on TOTP. Seing Manda sing through her mega-phone was cool, (i've always wanted to do that!) and I am off out tomorrow to buy a translucent plastic recorder. Just like I once went to buy hairclips in the chemist in Lisburn to match the ones she wore on TOTP and in the NME.

After the show the DJ was playing quality disco pop crap from Helen Love and Kenickie through to Jane Wiedlin's 'rush hour'. (Which I have just bought on 7'' for a £1 on ebay.) I hung around & bought Eurodisco on vinyl, then I got given a massive poster. But I gave it to this kid who had flown in from Belfast 'specially for the show. Apparetly there were people there who had come from Amsterdam as well, just to see Bis. 'Truly a much loved band.' (Here are some fairly bad pictures of them...!)

Then, today I went to take photos of Affleck's. I've heard rumours it's to close, so I thought I'd beset get some photos in case that's true.

So yeh, pretty excitin' weekend all round. Can't wait for ladyfest, but I think i'll be too knackered for roller disco tomorrow. But lee's coming back to town on Wednesday, which is pretty amazin', actually. :)
