This weekend has thus far been fantastic (though I have the possibility of failing a Biology test on Tuesday hanging over my head all weekend) for a number of reasons:
1) Yesterday, Mom, Katie and I went to go see "Pride and Prejudice" at the movies and it was simply wonderful. I loved, loved, loved this movie. As you probably already know, I am not the biggest fan of overtly romantic movies but I do love the book "Pride and Prejudice" and Mom and I love the BBC miniseries from 1995 and I saw the old 1943 version with Laurence Olivier so I had to go see this. Yes, Keira Knightley was in it, but she was great as Elizabeth and Matthew MacFayden made a perfect, brooding, sexy Mr. Darcy. The way it was filmed was perfect too, because it had a dreamlike, ethereal feel to it, but it was so much more realistic than other movie versions. No one was a wooden or staged as in other versions, but more lifelike and even the cringeworthy Mr. Collins and Mrs. Bennet were sympathetic. After the movie, Katie, Mom and I spent the rest of the evening discussing our favorite scenes over and over again. Gah, it was too good.
2) It snowed!!!!!!! (Yes, it's only like an inch and is already melting but I was so excited when I looked out the window and saw how bright/white it was). I feel so cozy inside with the white snow reflecting off the windows.
3) I got accepted into two more colleges this weekend: Adelphi University and Rider University. Rider is offering me $15,000 a year to go (but I really, really doubt that I'm going to Rider... safety school) and Adelphi is still considering me for their honors college. I'm going up there for an interview next weekend.
Le sigh, I may have to re-read "Pride and Prejudice" just to remind myself how great the movie was. I heart it so much.
