Library card, driving license, and receding hairline

So what's been happening?

The Might Mouse is working well, very well. I've very pleased with it actually, surprisingly.

I picked up a key ring from Georg Jensen which was conveniently on a 50% discount. (Was using a thread and safety pin to hold my key together with my HSBC security token.)

Caught Dark Knight twice already. It's still as good the second time round. I might catch it on the IMAX when seats are available. The first time, Ledger blew me away. The second time, he still stole the show. I thought it's good that Bale took a backseat on this one. Watching it again gave me more time to appreciate the soundtrack, which I think really added to the epic feel or grandiosity of the film. And Gary Oldman is extremely underrated in the Batman series. His role as Jim Gorden is so crucial and pivotal to Batman's character, but nobody pays him attention because he's just an old dude with salt and pepper hair and glasses and a moustache. But besides Ledger, Oldman delivered his monologues most naturally.

I've been on a semi-burger-hunt, for the best burger in Melbourne. Semi because if I went all out sampling burgers everyday I'd be sick of them before coming to any conclusion. I tried Grilled which tasted good (more due to the sauce) but the patty wasn't satisfying. It wasn't thick enough, wasn't bursting with juice, and didn't have that chargrilled taste. My next mission is the burger at Roozervelt in the Sofitel building, which I might try tomorrow.

I've been recommended on to Sydney, they want to see me, asked if I can pay my way so they sort me out later, I said yes of course. And now I'm waiting for them to decide if they want to see me later this week or early this week. It's been 48 hours and no date forthcoming and I'm wondering, come on it's not rocket science. When I was informed of the opening, I was asked how soon I can move up, so there's some urgency to the post. But as it drags out, I can feel it slipping out of my fingers. They might see somebody else first, or decide another in-house writer can double up and it'll save them one extra headcount and money. I've seen my CD interviewing and hiring, I know how agencies work.

Well there's really nothing to do about it I guess. Again.

In a selfish, I'm also relieved that the immediate action/decision has been taken out of my hands. Sure beats walking from St Kilda to Southbank to Collins in the rain knocking on every agency door.

Registered for a library card! Feeling so Aussie about it (har har). I had to hold back on purchasing more books 'cos they're heavy and take up space and will be a bitch when I have to move (anywhere). And it occurred to me that I now qualify for a library card, so I took myself down to the city library, filled out a form, queued up, got my card on the spot and borrowed Abercrombie's The Blade Itself.

I was inordinately pleased with myself. I love libraries and I loved walking around checking out the city library. It actually has something like a concentric layout that seems to twine around itself like a snake of shelves. The signage reminded me of the ones in Fed Square which were done by Tomato Design.

I renewed my driving license on the same day, for the next 10 years. It was either 3 or 10 years and I figured I can't be bothered renewing (or forgetting to) 3 years later.

Which makes me wonder, 10 years is a long time to be keeping the same photograph on an ID. Do people update their photos in that time? My hairline is receding and I doubt that's going to last 10 years.
