you want to know why there's no such thing as "love at first sight"? because it's the little things about someone that make you love them. the way they move and still love you even when they're completely asleep, and the muzzled confused things they say as they're just waking up. you can't know that having just met someone, only having seen them and how they act at a party or around friends. you can't know the things they'll do for you even after they learn that you're human. the things they'll know. they way they know the food you like and the food you hate and the way they know how you take your coffee and the way they know your face even with their eyes closed, but they can still be amazed when they open them. they habits they don't know they have but you do. the way that you don't have to pretend, ever ever ever. you don't have to change a goddamn thing and they'll still like you the way you were convinced no one ever could. the way that no matter what you could ever do, they could never completely hate you. they way they become a part of your life that you'll tell your children someday, the way they become something you'll never forget. you can always forget a passing face, no matter how beautiful or ugly. we can all be so fucking ugly sometimes. we can be so callous and cruel and hungry. but the fact that something like this could ever ever happen? sometimes i think it makes up for it.
