Happy New Year

Some quotes I've been collecting:

First, a whole string of them from the book I'm currently soaking up like water in a sponge. I'm only 1/3 of the way through it, and already it is changing my life (yes, I know I sound cheesey, but its true). The book is--brace yourself--"eat, pray, love" by Elizabeth Gilbert.

"This was not my moment to be seeking romance and (as day follows night) to further complicate my already knotty life. This was my moment to look for the kind of healing and peace that can only come from solitude."

"When I get lonely these days, I think: so be lonely. Learn your way around loneliness. Make a map of it. Sit with it, for once in your life. Welcome to the human experience. But never again use another person's body or emotions as a scratching post for your own unfulfilled yearnings."

"I'm exhausted by the cumulative consequences of a lifetime of hasty choices and chaotic passions."

"...my life has not actually been so chaotic, after all. It is merely this world that is chaotic, bringing changes to us all that nobody could have anticipated... One must always be prepared for riotous and endless waves of transformation."

Next, a quote from the Bhagavad Gita:
"It is better to live your own destiny imperfectly than to live an imitation of somebody else's life with perfection."

Lastly, a quote from my own (handwritten) personal journal, written just last night:
"I want to spend more time reading, listening, and observing--in order to learn as much about this world I live in as possible. And (of course) I want to travel and see and meet as many different types of people as possible so that I may understand myself and this life all the better. What else? Well, I want to let myself just sit and Think about all these things more often, for very long periods of time. God, how I love to do that.
"As for specifically, small-scale, New Year's resolutions, here goes:
"write, draw, paint, print, Create, cook, read, sing, dance, sit still, smile (even w/ braces), hug, learn, laugh, exercise, clean, meditate, do yoga, give, revolutionize, and love (myself and others) very much more.
"drink, smoke, get angry, shut people out, wallow in self-pity, hurt others, and skip class much less.
"Yes. All of that sounds good and possible. :)"
