Heartbreak Soup
so, a while ago we had some 'family friends' staying with us [during my AS exams, how convenient and thoughtful!] from Canada. The woman is originally from Coventry, and was in some 60s pop band called The Orchids, who were aparantly quite famous [she knew The Kinks and everything!]. So, she came back to England because some guy was writing a book about the Coventry music scene [sorry, WHAT music scene...] and wanted to interview her. The interview took place at our house [how very glamourous!] and now our family has been invited to the book launch partay type thing.
and i have a dilemna [not very big, but a dilemna all the same]... do i go to this book launch thingy in case some [ex]famous people-in-bands are there [obv the only Coventry band i would care about would be THE SPECIALS!] or shall i just not bother because it will probably be the most boring experience of my life...?
cause i'd love to meet Terry Hall, or any member of the Specials... everyone i know seems to have some sort of link with the Specials [ex manager, ex girlfriends, etcetc] but i want to meet the only good thing to come out of Coventry [except me, of course!]... but knowing my luck i'd go and they'd have some Z-list celebrity like... oh god i can't even think of anyone remotely famous that's come out of Coventry... typical.
