the new a perfect circle cd is out, been thumpin it in my earphones as of late. the renditions of imagine and whats goin on are reason enough to pick it up and give it a listen. i was at virgin megastore near work the other day and i kept picking up dvds that i wanted and jettisoning them when i saw other ones i wanted more (family guy, disneys gnome mobile, the new eddie izzard, 2nd season of strangers with candy, ren and stimpy, etc...) and i realized i know what i would do if i had a unexpected windfall of cash: buy everything i ever wanted to see and sit and watch it while my ass got fatter. since im on a budget and the only saddist that still watches vhs, i picked up some of those for like 5 bucks a piece (at the hollywood video bargin bin) instead. i got total recall, 12 monkeys, gods & monsters and three kings. as if i wasnt ashamed enough to be buying this archaic film format, the three kings tape was kind enough to have an ad before the movie for a new and exciting technology called "dvd" that they encouraged me to try next time. fuckers. out of morbid curiousity and probably for a boost to my ego i tried one of those online personals sites and put up an ad. not much happened until i also uploaded a picture of myself. curiosity and ego were then morbidly satisfied. its amazing how many older men in the tristate area decided i was interesting enough to "send a smile" to (which is how you tell someone that you want to do them in online personals world). and since one of the things i picked (from a dropdown menu) as a cool idea for a date was "going to an arcade," I also managed to get lots of local gamefreaks sending me i-want-to-nail-you smiles as well. ew. speaking of tawdry affairs, the saturday preceding halloween my buddy kt and i (tinkerbell and playboy bunny respectively) went to a costume party at our friends apartment over on wall street. good times with 3 kegs and 100s of jello shots, as well as coolers dispensing kamikazi and grateful dead shots. after getting adequately plastered we followed some other friends over to this club called plaid near work. many coronas met their death and at some point i realized the guy i was dancing with had put his chicken head on and it was time to go home (disclaimer: that was part of his costume he hadnt been wearing when we were shouting idle banter over the music). i finished reading american psycho the other day and now im reading this book called surfing the himalayas: a spiritual adventure. i find it weird that i could feel connected to both of these drastically different genres of literature. oh well. also, ive noticed something about myself: i vaguely become whatever i am immersing myself in, so last week i was walking the streets of nyc and wondering what certain people would look like cut up into pieces and this week im on the path to enlightenment. i think its time to read a story about someone sleeping, i could go for some of that.
ps- i updated my online pictures, the link is down on august 24th
