So I realise I could have just stayed in my room and listened to music there if I was just going to wander into the nearest mall and scan through CDs at the listening bars. But this? Mildly more social, and now I know there's a music store nearby, so it's all good in the end ( Read more... )

Well, now that I have all this free time, what to do? Oh yes, spend my allowance money on CDs that I could probably copy from a friend for free. Why not spend my free time in a music store? There was a CD I wanted to get anyway.

Scanning through the CDs I check out a few new bands that I have never even thought to look for. Not some bad stuff, some good vocals, bass lines...if I didn't have a particular objective I would waste my money on them.

Ah yes. Here we are. The awesome new Jet CD, can always count on this place to have many copies of the new stuff.

I took off the bulky listening booth headphones and hung them back up, deciding to scan through the CDs in the racks and give someone else a chance to listen to something.

Which in theory was a good plan.

Until my third step, when my foot caught the edge of the shelving unit and I tripped right into the guy standing like 2 feet in front of me nearly knocking us both to the ground.

"Omigod, I'm such a clutz..." I muttered under my breath, turning bright red. "I'm so sorry! Are you okay?" I asked quickly. "Some days I'm not sure I should be allowed to walk..." I added quietly.

I was simply reading through the song list when I am suddenly collided into. Poor girl fell into me pretty hard, caught me by suprise, and made me drop my damn CD. Laughing quietly, I just put my hand up, in a 'it's ok' kind of way.

"It's ok, it happens. Are you ok?" I asked, bending down to pick up my CD. Ok, so this one is slightly cracked now. Looking around, I just put it back and grab a new one.

"No harm, no foul. Whoever put those shelves there at foot range should definately be sued for something," I joked, hoping to make her face a little...ok, a lot less red.

"Well, I'm sure if I'd had any lasting injuries, we'd actually have a case, but I doubt it'll be more than a couple of bruises." I replied with a slight smile. "I'm really sorry...I just...yeah...walking...clearly not my thing." I told him, still completely embarrassed. "You're just minding your own business, looking at CDs and some random, clutzy teenage girl crashes right into you...I can't believe you're not even annoyed..."

Okay, babbling...but only slightly. Not like I could make myself look worse or anything.

I just smiled at her. Now that I look at her I see that she is quite cute. And is it wrong that the babbling makes her seem cuter? I shook my head and chuckled. "It's not a problem. Really. People trip over stuff. It's like a...thing that people do. And I don't mind the chance encounter anyway," I say with a bit cheeky grin.

Anything to avoid the never ending boredness. Now I really have to say, this is far far better than working in a stuffy law firm, delivering mail and getting coffee.

I couldn't help but blush slightly at his last comment. I crash into him and he's flirting with me...kinda random. Wasn't expecting that. "Yeah, I guess I'm not the first person in the history of the universe to trip on something and bump into someone else..." I smiled slightly.

"So what was it you were looking at when I made you drop it?" I asked curiously.

She blushed and it was really cute, so I just kept smiling at her. "Well, I know I've not exactly had a perfect record of balance. I've had my share of spills." I fiddle with the cd some and then stop. Why am I fidgeting? That's never good.

"Oh, it's the new Jet cd. I had been meaning to get it for like a week now, but I can't help but always be busy." Glancing down at the cd, I looked back up at her. "You like them?"

I grinned slightly at his question. What were the odds? "Actually I was just listening to them right before my amazing display on the effects of gravity." I told him, "They're really good."

This was all feeling like a very weird coincidence. "Don't quite have the cash to get it myself right now...I should really save the little bit of money I've got." I told him, "Not that I'm complaining, 'cause I'm beyond glad to be back States-side. But yay for you finally getting it." I added the last bit with a smile.

I chuckled softly. "Yeah, I like their music. That's why I was so glad when I got out of my stupid meeting, for an internship I didn't want, early. That was nice. Who wants to work in a law firm anyway?"

Well, I had enough cash at the moment to get us both a copy, for some reason I wanted to buy it for her, but I'll keep that to myself. "State-side? Where were you before this? Anyone who gets to live outside the country is way cool," I admitted with a smile.

"Not really sure about the law firm thing other than lawyers..but not me, ether way." I smirked to him. "Who set up the internship if you didn't want it?" I asked curiously, part of me wondering how much older than me the boy was than me. He didn't look that much older.

"As far as where I was before? Italy. My sister is working over there, but she's letting me come stay with one of her best friends here in L.A." I told him.

"I'm Dawn, by the way." I smiled, offering him my hand, realising I hadn't even introduced myself.

"My parents set it up, I just want to be young and restless for as long as I can, but my folks are already planning my life." I sighed deeply. "They didn't seem to want me though, the CEO guy seemed all weird with me around. But oh well, it's all good. Eh, who wants to work for a guy name Angel anyway." I shrugged.

She was even cooler than I thought, I've wanted to leave the country before. Wanted to do the study abroad program, that didn't go well. But Italy is definately somewhere I've wanted to check out. "Italy? That's pretty awesome. I am totally envious of that. I'm tired of LA. It's the same ol' thing all the time." I smiled at her. "Maybe you can teach me Italian sometime...or something."

Duh, introduce yourself you jackass. "I'm Connor," I said, taking her hand and shaking it lightly. "Very nice to meet you."

"Nice to meet you, too." I giggled slightly as we shook hands. This tiny part of me wanted to question the Angel thing, wondering if it was the same one I was thinking of, but even in a city this size how many guys named Angel could there be? Not like it mattered much.

"I'm not sure if I actually picked up enough Italian to be really useful." I admitted. "I was in Rome, so they were kinda used to English speaking tourists, you know? But we could still hang out sometime if you wanted. Get some coffee or a pizza that actually has cheese on it, or something..." I shrugged. "L.A.'s really not that bad when compared to where I used to live before going to Rome. It was nice and all, but really tiny."

God is she just the cutest girl, I really hope I bump into her again...or her bump into me, either way works. I tucked my hand in my pocket and leaned against the cd rack.

"That's cool. I've always wanted to check out Rome, still hoping to some day." Did she just ask me out on a date? How did she manage to beat me to it? Damn, and here I thought I was the smooth talker. I just smiled at her. "Ya know, that sounds really nice. Coffee and pizza are always good in my book. And maybe a movie," I added with a smirk. There, I did the guy date thing, points for me.

"Movies on the big screen in English...why was that not tops on my list of things to do when I got off the plane?" I asked grinning. "Hey, we could do all three...Pizza for dinner, then a movie, then out for coffee after to talk about the movie." Brilliant plan if I do say so myself. I'll call Buffy later and tell her where I am. She won't mind.

What was I even doing? I'd just met this guy...and granted, he was really hot in an almost pretty kind of way, but I'm here thinking up reasons to spend hours on end with him. Right then.

Not that he seemed entirely apposed to the idea, so that was a nice bonus...scoring a date within hours of being back in the States.
