(continued from here)I love my sister dearly. I really do. I just have this one little issue...small one. I'm not supposed to be the one lecturing her about options and education and dreams. I'm 5 years younger than her, so it's supposed to be the other way around, am I right ( Read more... )

Okay, now I wish I had a video camera. So that I could play back the last little while of our conversation. Because clearly she doesn't even notice the insanity.

"How is it she doesn't even notice?" I mutter slightly under my breath. Do I just out and out say it, or drop it? "It's nothing...I'm probably just making something out of nothing again...you're just being weird at times, that's all." I told her. No point in starting a fight. I'll just wait until we're in L.A., see how she acts there...good practice on that patience concept.

"Weird?" I ask again, raising an eyebrow as a question towards her. And don't think I hadn't heard her muttering. Well, I hadn't heard exactly what she had said, but I didn't even have to bet that it was a remark about me.

Okay, I can see some of the point she's trying to make. I just couldn't tell her what happened between me and Xander. Not yet. Probably, not ever.

I just couldn't help but look completely amazed at my sister for a moment. She doesn't even attempt to cover, deny or explain...she just questions the weird part of my comment...further adding to the weirdness exhibited. Right then, am I the only one thinking she may need, I don't know, therapy or something?

I'm getting close to annoyed here...she's not supposed to be a total space case. Thought that was kinda a requirement of being legally responsible for a minor, sibling or not.

"Buffy, come on..." I shook my head, laughing slightly. "You're not even attempting to defend yourself against the weirdness claim...which believe it or not? Weirder. But whatever...let's just finish up here and go have some fun, okay? I'll call Xander with all the info later."

"No, Dawnie... really..." I started. Half of me wondered why I was the one pushing for information. I knew what she was talking about, really. Sure, I'd love to tell her. At least part of me wants to... the part that doesn't want to be stamped as clinically insane.

I shake my head slightly, "Never mind, you're right. We'll buy some nice online tickets and then go on a mini food/shopping spree."

"See, now we're back on track for the evening of fun." As long as she stopped acting insane, anyway. Otherwise I was likely to spend the entire night worrying about her.

"So, when am I supposed to be packed by, anyway?" I asked curiously.

"Three days from now." I said, typing into the computer. It gave me plenty of time to warn Giles and the mini-Slayers that I'd be going away for a bit with Dawn.

"And I'll be packing too..." I noted. Did she suddenly think that I was just going to leave her off at the airport and that would be fine? Because no. Just no. I don't think she'd even understand how much I'd miss her.

"I know, I know...just...you're coming back soonish, and I'm well...not." I pointed out. "Which kinda means I have to make sure everything I want to bring either fits in the weight allowed by suitcase and carry-on limit, or I guess arranged to have it shipped back to the states...which is probably cost-prohibitive...right?"

She looked all worried about something for a minute. "And Buffy, relax...I'm gonna miss you too. But like I keep telling you? We're gonna talk all. the. time. You're gonna be sick of me." I smiled.

"We could use multiple suitcases..." I started, then paused in thought, "Which is completely unrealistic. Go me and those ideas..."

I sigh, "Yeah, so I'm guessing narrowing down of stuff. Just for the record, Dawn? I can't ever get sick of you." I said firmly.

"Yeah...multipule suitcases only works if we don't have weight restrictions." I pointed out laughing slightly. "So massive narrowing. Or you packing less?"

Long shot and I knew it, but whatever. Couldn't hurt to try. After all, she was technically just coming for a visit...I wouldn't be coming back for nearly a year, if I did...Who knows where I'm gonna go for college?

"Glad you think so. Guess we'll find out though..." I teased.

"I'm still going to miss you massively. It's going to be lonely without you."

So massive narrowing. Or you packing less?

I knew what she was getting at. Suitcase hog. I should pack less, but when it came to travelling Dawn was just like me - 'Let's take things that we don't need or will rarely use!' I sighed.

"I'll try to pack less, okay?" I half pouted, "I may need some narrowing down too."

"You'll be insanely busy like always and you know it." I told her. We both knew it, so I really wasn't sure why she was trying to make it seem like anything else was going to happen. "And how many things can you possibly need to bring? You staying for a month or something?" I asked her, teasingly.

She's always getting on my case for the stuff I'm packing...but I have to bring not only my clothes, but anything else from my room I want to keep...not that there was much compared to in Sunnydale, what with the house falling into the giant crater, but still...

"A week." I replied. Yeah, that was a smart idea. Feed the obvious comfort between you and Xander by staying for a week.

"I'll make room. I will. I promise." I told her.

"Thank you." I grinned to her. "So we're all set then? Plane ticket wise, I mean. 'Cause if so, I'm gonna go brush my hair and stuff quickly before we get going. It's feeling all tangly and gross...probable because I haven't brushed it since I got up."

I shook my head slightly. "Anyway, come get me when you're ready to go." I told her, before heading to my room.

"We're good to go." I confirmed, completing the order form for the tickets.

"And the brushing of hair is sounding like a good idea. Let's go prepare for tonight." I told her, getting up from my spot.
