a brief introduction

In French, it's called "présenter"- a term which, in my opinion, is far better than the English "to introduce". The French way makes you think of a gift, the English phrase makes you think of a hospital.

This is what I am not:
a red grape, a broken elastic hair tie, the stain at the bottom of your coffee cup, a remnant from your youth. a hello kitty calculator, a lion-shaped post-it note pad, the user manual for Microsoft Works. an uncharged cell phone, emo music that floats out of your stereo and makes you want to cry.

And now we turn the tables to you.

So. Let me tell you a story about yourself.

You’re just too pretty.

I know you don’t think so. I can’t look at you, you’re too pretty and too everything that I want. I can’t show you to anyone else because I’m afraid they won’t think you’re as pretty as I think you are. Or worse, that they will think that you’re as pretty as I think you are.

I want to tell you this, but I don’t want to tell you this. Maybe one day we’ll be sitting in the car and it’ll be perfect and the sun will be shining and the birds singing, (the kind of setting that we make fun of and make sarcastic comments about) and you will be just too gorgeous not to say something.

But until then- here is a mirror. Go stare at yourself and figure out what we all know already.
