so yeah, I've been planning away, talking about stuff, but now everyone can SEE things that I'm thinking about! isn't that GREAT?? I REALLY hope no one has dialup... cos this is going to be a BITCH. : ) in the nicest and most beautiful way possible, of course. enjoy!
okie so start with dresses...
this is deven's first choice. I'm going to see if I can get it with bell sleeves as per his request, but I think it looks fine as it is.
the next two are runners-up. the dress that I super duper want has its closest shop in california, so it's probably out of the question. ::cries::
now for the menfolk...
this will be for the groom. both the coat and the shirt are mandarin collar, which means no tie. it's deven's favorite, plus he won't wear anything else, PLUS I think he looks hot in mandarin collars : )
deven informed me that his brother would stage a revolution if the had to wear a tie, so the groomsmen will be in mandarin collars too. they're going sans jacket 1. to set off deven as groom and 2. cos I think it looks really cool. : P
the pretty things...
I'm going to go barefoot for the whole thing because it'll be comfy. these are "barefoot sandals" and since deven's mom does fabulous beading, I'm going to ask her to make me a pair. yay!!
this is the peacock cake topper I keep yammering about. it's actually 12"x12" which is a lot bigger than it seems in the picture! peacocks are a symbol of india and they mate for life.
so the peacocks on the cake won't be alone, I'm going to get these fabulous ivory peacock feathers (yes they're real), cut thendown really close to the "eye" part, and sew them to the edge of my wedding veil, which will be a pale creamy yellow color and shaped like a spanish mantilla. I'm also going to take full ones and tuck them among the wooden roses that I'm going to have as table centerpieces.
if you read the post about wedding invitation envelopes, then you'll know that this is going o be that stamp I'm going to put on the outside of the envelope. the envelope will be yellow and this will be stamped in reddish-brown ink to look like henna. presto, another peacock-indian element!
at first I was thinking of just going barefaced with ever-present chapstick, but then I saw this makeup job and knew it was meant to be.
and of course the flowers...
it was partly the beautiful sunset colors of these roses that made me change my mind about the color scheme.
freesias smell like sweet citrus candy, and these will probably be the basis of the men's boutounnieres.
lotus flowers are the national flower of india, and I love the colors and shape. I don't know what to do with them though... and isn't that duckling sooo cute??
and the reception area potentials...
this is the glendale gaslight inn, first one I found and first runner-up. it includes lodging, is beautiful, pretty close, and the cheapest of the three.
this is the whole front of it. I love the cozy dark color...
this is a picture of the interior. those chairs are so classy. I don't think this is the reception room though.
here's the lounge. I can just imagine this stuffed with talking people wating for the reception proper to start... and we aren't going to have a pianist (ipod DJ ftw!) but if people want to knock out a few bars they're welcome.
this is from another angle. I can just imagine coming down those stairs on deven's arm! so romantic... I have no idea what I'd be doing up there though, considering the reception is right after the ceremony, and everyone else is going to get here first cos we're going to be taking pictures.
this is the entrance arch to the reception area of the Old Town Bed and Breakfast. now that I think about it, I wonder if they do lodging too...
it's very beautiful and green, but they only have outside dining. the caterer I want has done receptions here several times so it won't be a big problem, and it's arizona so fat chance of rain, but... I would like the security of a choice at least.
some more of the BEAUTIFUL GREEN! I hate things that look dry, so nice grass and non-deserty-plants are a high priority.
this is the dining area for WindStar Gardens. again with outside dining only... but its also beautiful. I love that fountain.
this must be the front walkway... I can totally see a big wedding crowd trooping down it. such fun!
GREEN!!!! I just hope it's still green in November...
I want an ivory-frosted cake with white paisley henna-like patterns all over it. YAY!! cake decorating mystery solved. but I can find no pictures of such a thing... sorry. : (
so.... this was mostly for Chrystal, but what do y'all think?
=^.^=
