ok, all y'all who get your panties in a bunch and look at me like I'm a looney and say in that voice from which you've exorcised all your exasperation,
"It's JUST a STORY,"
or
"It's in the FICTION section,"
...
tell that to all the people who BELIEVE in it.
tell that to all the people who make fun of us because they've swallowed every word as truth.
tell that to Dan Brown, who put in the beginning of his book, "All descriptions of artwork, architecture, documents and secret rituals in this novel are accurate", and who goes on TV saying his book is based on historical truth.
tell that to the conspiracy theorists, who popped up like toadstools.
tell that to those who created the suspicious atmosphere around Paris' Church of St. Sulpice (where in the book a nun was bludgeoned to death) which made the local priests there get twitchy, and also compelled those priests to put up a sign saying that a brass strip running across the floor of the church is not a pagan astronomical device (which is also in the book).
tell that to all the people collecting fodder for their anti-Catholic, anti-Christian cannons.
tell that to all the people telling us we're stupid and duped when they don't know beans about our religion.
but don't tell me. I know it isn't real. the danger is that other people think it's real.
