Hm, interesting point of view.

Personally, I'm not sure that I'd like to be idolized for beauty. Beauty in Marilyn's era excluded women who didn't compare to her. Today, women do not typically fit the qualifications for beauty unless their bodies are shaped a certain way, which still excludes women. I suppose beauty should be important in some avenue, but I wish that inner beauty weighed as much as the beauty of the exterior.

That's a pretty awesome quote that you posted.

And yes, there's tons of craziness in the world. I sometimes feel like it's all caving in, like a plague of black has built its walls up around me and all I can do is watch them loom and wait for the inevitable. But, that's another entry. I think that education will solve these problems. With education comes more desire to learn, in general. To illustrate my earlier point about apathy/ignorance: this summer, I attempted to conduct a rally (I was the only person who showed up) in my small, VERY conservative hometown. It was to try to inform people of some of the negative things Bush has done in office. I had a signed document from the mayor saying that I could be there passing out flyers. Mind you, I had this signature in advance, and this was a very specific spot uptown where I was planning to demonstrate. That morning, Lo and behold, the Republican running for state rep. showed up at the same time I did. He did an interview with the local radio station, literally right in front of me. I wasn't asked what I was doing there. One person even suggested to the radio interviewer (off air) that he ask what I was doing, but he did not. Two conservative republicans, youth, mind you, had conducted a rally of the same sort a little earlier that summer (they supported Bush) and they made the front page of the newspaper. I suppose I've digressed from my point. When I was standing up there, passing out flyers to people, most of them didn't want to hear what I had to say. They would try to argue with me on topics, and when I started to respond, they would either cut me off or walk away. I felt belittledhe based on my views. It was rather pitiful. My point here isn't to say that Democrats or liberals are angelic; I'm sure that some of them would do the same thing that was done to me. The story was to illustrate the point that people are ignorant to thoughts and ideas, specifically those that contrast with their own.

"people are ignorant to thoughts and ideas, specifically those that contrast with their own."
do you not suffer from that same ailment?

there will always be those things that you feel are not so great about life, but you just to take the good with the bad.

your thoughts and actions are admirable...

its funny that you post this now because i was just having a conversation with a friend about what era/decade we thought we should have belonged to. according to her, im quite comparable with men of the 50's. i wont admit shes wrong for saying so...ha.
