So - the move to Walla Walla is on the horizon. Michael put in his notice, and mine will go in on the last day of the month. My last day will be the 14th. Michael's old boss has offered him much better pay and he will be the manager of a new call center they are building. If you ever need any plumbing, let me know - check it out at www.faucets4cheap.com. I've had a problem getting any responses on resumes, but he's going to hire me until I can find something better. I think once I'm there, it will be much easier. Small towns like that don't usually look to bring someone from a big city in, until it's for much higher positions (which I won't be ready for till I have a few more years experience).
We are renting a house. When we first saw it, I was not impressed with the inside. It's in a great location, but the screen doors were falling off the hinges, the carpets are 25 years old, and the bathroom only has a small, and very old and gross shower. I've talked the owner into replacing the carpet and screens, and instead of the almost $700 dollar deposit, I'm only paying 300, and we're going to coordinate a bathroom "remodel." It will be pretty simple. All I need is a new valve, drain, and a 3 piece tub/shower unit. It should cost anywhere from 3-500 dollars, depending on what brand we buy. Since we'll be working at a plumbing store, I don't think it should be very hard.
This house is great. It has 2 bedrooms, a living and dining room, a big kitchen, a huge storage closet on the back porch, a great attic which is completely wood on one half, so I don't have to jump around insulation, and it's on a double lot. The second half of the lot has a huge yard, and a hugh vegetable garden complete with apple tree. We also have a burn pit, and Michael is very excited about this.
The best thing about Walla Walla is that it takes 10 minutes to get anywhere in town - in traffic. It's also dirt cheap. I think I'll be much happier there. I can't wait to take hikes in the foothills and check out the windmill fields - they're so majestic.
Here's a look at our new place:
Don't think I've been excited since Christmas when I was 10.
