It was a dark and cold night. Three young boys are about to do something that nobody has done in over 10 years. They are going to spend the night in the old Macgregor place. The Macgregor place which was in the outskirts of town is well known to be haunted. When the trio arrived they noticed the place was not at all as dilapidated as they had heard. In fact it almost looked livable. All the houses on the block were separated by at least a quarter mile.
The house was locked, but they managed to break a window and get in. It was after midnight and the boys were immensely frightened of all the creaking the house was making. When the noise became unbearable the eldest of the boys decided to venture upstairs and see what it was. As he slowly walked up the stairs it sounded like someone was running on the old wooden floor. Then suddenly a door slammed and the noise ceased. As the boys confidence was slowly retuning he turned around the noise started again. Again he turned to investigate only to find a small rat.
After taking a deep breath he attempted to once more go down the stairs only to meet a piece of wood to his forehead and hit the ground with the a terrifying thud, and cold blood leaked out of his limp head.
Meanwhile the other two boys after hearing the sound managed to gather up their strength and see what happened to their friend. As they crept up the stairs they heard footsteps right behind them. They turned to see nothing, and then a door slammed. The door was a only about three feet from the kids, and they dared open it to find something more horrifying than a ghost. It was a man clutching a baseball bat protecting his family.
The man cowered to his knee’s and begged for his family’s life. The kids explained that they thought the Macgregor house was abandoned and haunted. When the man heard the name Macgregor he stopped them and said that the Macgregor house was torn down four years ago. The boys guilt was worsened after the man helped their injured friend get to his feet and said he wouldn’t press charges.
When the boys left and went to the next house to their surprise someone was in that house as well. The boys asked whether or not this house was indeed the Macgregor house the women said that the house was next door. After the boys explained what had happened next door the women said that it didn’t surprise her. The man holding the baseball bat was indeed Macgregor and he was trying to protect his dead family even in death.
The women went on to explain that Macgregor and his whole family were murdered by an armed man who robbed their house.
