So I sit up sometimes after my work is done, and I download music. Well it's really more of a Katrina sized effort in rebuilding actually. Since my father got my iPod wet, and acted like since he got it for me for xmas it was ok that he ruined it,... because after all..... he bought it to begin with?? wtf... anyways... im past it, sorta not really.
ANYWAYS
So I picked up a documentary of Johnny Cash @ San Quentin... and being the nerd that I am... I watched it. It was obviously amazing, and I've heard the album before, but this was a real treat / find. There is a part near the beginning where Johnny, and June Carter Cash sing a duet called "Darlin' Companion"... It'd a really great song written by
John Sebastian of "
The Lovin' Spoonful" fame (they had the hit Summer In The City). It's just a really great song, and honestly I like lyrics that remind me of the good things in my life, and the way I feel about Brandy. I know it's sentimental B.S.... but what's it matter? I don't know why... but I've always thought of Brandy as my June Carter. Maybe that's what I've missed in my costume hunt... I could be Johnny Cash, and she could be June Carter for Halloween... hahaha... that would be funny.
Here ya go:
Artist: Cash Johnny
Song: Darlin' Companion
Album: At San Quentin
Darlin' companion, come on and give me understandin'.
And let me be your champion: a hand to hold your pretty hand in.
Darlin' companion, now you know you'll never be abandoned.
Love will always light our landin': I can depend on you.
Oh, a little saucy mare like you should have a steed.
Oh, a little bridlin' down from you is what I need.
Darlin' companion, now you know you'll never be abandoned.
Love will always light our landin': I can depend on you.
Darlin' companion, come on and give me understandin'.
As long as we keep laughin', bear in mind just what could happen.
Darlin' companion, I tell the mountains and the canyons,
Long as I got legs to stand on, I'm gonna stick by you.
Oh, a little saucy mare like you should have a steed.
Oh, a little bridlin' down from you is what I need.
Darlin' companion, I tell the mountains and the canyons,
Long as I got legs to stand on, I'm gonna stick by you.
Darlin' companion, I tell the mountains and the canyons,
Long as I got legs to stand on, I'm gonna stick by you.
