Poem Again.

Three Words

I told you not to lie to me,
Just three words were all you said,
"I never will," came from your mouth,
Minutes before you fled.

I told you not to lie to me,
And you said only three words,
And after, "You are beautiful,"
Nothing more that day was heard.

I told you not to lie to me,
Three words were all you'd spoken,
"You're always mine," had assured,
That my heart would not be broken.

I told you not to lie to me,
"We'll be forever," was this time,
Those three words were the beginning,
To your long and cruel crime.

I told you not to lie to me,
The next three words were, "Can we talk?"
All I could say was, "Alright,
We'll go for a walk."

I told you not to lie to me,
The three words were, "It's too late."
Sad enough, even all the world,
Could have told me this was fate.

I told you not to lie to me,
The whispered, "What's the lie?"
You didn't say even one word,
But, "I love you," was written in your eyes.
