Learning to hate surprises...

I found out this week that one of my co-workers was really unhappy with something I did.  This was news to me.  This is something from months ago.  I'm not an overly confrontational person untill you...  purchase my anger.  So, coming to me to say "Hey, I don't think you are aware of the problems I had with this, but..." is not unreasonable.  However, I stand behind my decision and support for this company because the people that work here ARE great.  I'm just the new-comer and we're learning the communication methods that work for eachother.  I have a funny feeling he doesn't like confrontations, so we are working with 'notes' or 'letters', then we schedule time to talk about something.  I really have never worked anywhere that had people as open minded and willing to try to work with you before.  Or at least that's the way it feels right now.  I am starting to understand why there's been some turnover issues here in the past though.  Most of the people that are here have been for 5 or more years.  Since I was hired, we've gone through a programmer who couldn't deal with the structure here and a misc task employee.  Neither lasted more than a month or so.  One of our long term programmers left for RedHat, so we were down to one.  We hired another and  he's very....  task oriented.  The way I am.  I like this.  He seems ..  well.  We agree on methodology.  There's something about him that I find unsettling, but can't put my finger on it.  I think it's his appearance, as he looks a bit like a used car salesman, so I'm putting that aside and placing faith in him.

I'm trying to remember what the other issue was but can't right now, I'll update later...  Oh, I know part of it.  What the hell  is it with Orkut?  I logged in today and it's turned into a brazillian/Iranian pornography playground!  Not that I mind porn, but having something in english to read along with it would be nice!

orkut, work
