new kittah!

So, Ann and I have been talking about getting a second kitty to keep Zipper company... so for the past week or so, we've been spending a lot of time at the local SPCA in a room full of kittens. Like we did with Zipper, we like to give it a little time for the kitties to get used to us, and let their personalities come out. Anyway, after much deliberation, we came to a decision, and Friday afternoon we brought home our second little boy.

He's a flame-tip siamese mix with blue eyes, and incredibly sweet (although he's still a kitten, and likes to pounce your feets). The shelter named him James Dean, and we haven't decided on what (if anything) to rename him yet. Any suggestions are welcome, and if we narrow it down to a few I might put up a poll.

At any rate, kitty pictures below

It was a lot harder than it looks to get him to sit still and say cheese, mind you.

Cute face!

Cute face, but charging his lazors!

Still charging teh lazors... critical mass imminent:

Lazors fully charged, firing sequence initiated...

Only tummyrubs can prevent cataclysmic destruction by kitty lazor. Disaster is narrowly avoided.

And that's about it for pictures.

We've introduced he and Zipper, and things have gone really well so far- no biting or clawing (other than playfully). Although Zips is twice his size, he's still under a year old, so he's willing to play. Maybe not as much as the little guy, but we're hoping he grows a bit now that he's got a home. Apparently he's somewhat "slow developing" (which either means "retarded" or "runt" or "retarded runt") according to the SPCA... he may just be a late-bloomer, or he may always be a bit small. His mom was small, and had the kittens at a young age, so that may have something to do with it.

I ordered a Lotus Cat Tower almost two months ago (with the knowledge that they're typically backordered about 8 weeks, although it didn't say they were this time- and yes, our cats are spoiled rotten). I had some concern about whether the order was delayed or not- after a few attempts to contact the company, I finally got hold of them last week and figured out that yes, there was some shipping mixup, but it's resolved now and we should have it Tuesday. Right now we're keeping the little guy in the guest bathroom/bedroom, but we're thinking he'll be free to roam around before long.

Anyway, that's about that! Name suggestions are welcome!
