The Greengrasses arrived not long after the party had started. Darius Greengrass was a tall man and kept a stern look on his face. He wasn't much for "holiday cheer" and would much rather keep the dignified nature about him. This allowed him to always be in control and alert. And in the business he was in, there was no room for mistakes.
He smiled fondly at his daughters, his two most precious treasures, before joining the adults with his wife Sophia. Mrs. Greengrass, while just as dignified, was not as reserved. She either had a scowl on her face or a brilliantly white cheerful smile. She felt emotions drastically and did not hold back. It was a much different approach compared to Darius but they balanced well.
Astoria, the youngest Greengrass, spotted her friends instantly and ran off to join them. She was almost a carbon copy of her older sister, Daphne. When they were younger, the two could be passed off as twins. But lately Daphne felt they were being pulled in two different directions.
Still, together, the four of them looked like the perfect family - always ready for their portrait to be done, always dressed at their best, and always with their noses in the air. They did not feel any need to hide their wealth or their perfect family lineage. And here, at the Malfoy Manor, they fit right in.
It was no surprise that Daphne received one of Draco's owls. And knowing she was important to him still put a slight knot in her stomach. These people were like her family - she didn't want to forget that.
"Draco, Happy Christmas," she greeted him, a smile on her face and glass of champagne in her hand.
Daphne grinned. It was nice to know that some things never changed.
"Darling, I believe I'm in just the right company," she purred, placing an affectionate hand on his shoulder.
Turning to face the crowd, she took in the entire scene. The manor was decorated beautifully. Everything was pure class. Just the way the Greengrass women liked it.
"Have you had a drink yet? The selection, I'm sure you know, is wonderful."
Fraid i've not made my way to the bar yet. As Host, i'll be needing to keep my wits about me for at least another half hour once the bulk of the guests have arrived. He gave her what was admittedly a cute grin, which molded slowly into a nasty smirk as his eyes laid upon the corner of the hall. Lucius was pounding his fist against the bar, saying something incoherent.
I suppose one champagne couldn't do too much damage.
"I find it often helps with the meaningless conversation," she replied, taking a small sip. It was always refreshing and familiar the way the bubbles tickled at her nose. It was something she hoped never to get used to.
"And there are so many people here we only see once a year. We're bound to get stuck in a handful of those interactions. Best be prepared."
Harper was late of course. As he arrived to the will decorated door he dusted a few fresh snowflakes off his sholder. A 'Knock knock knock' sound echoed through the cold winter winds as he rang on the brass handle of Malfoy Manor.
Licking his tounge over his chapped lips his hands where filled with packages.
Happy Birthday to you! " Rodolphus opened the door staggering some as he looked over in the direction of what appeared to be a skinney Slytherin boy with gifts piled high.
Rodolphus snapped his fingers and a house elf appeared. " Help they young lad with his coat and packages" he barked. " And I NEED another one!" he scanned the melting ice in his shifter.
" C'me " motioned to Daniel escorting him inside the manor.

Gods you look stunning, he spoke with a tinge of lingering hurt, and was already kissing her other cheek by the time he'd finished, as usual.
Happy Christmas, lovely. He gave her a confident grin, and glanced out over the rapidly growing crowd.
Have you sat with Saint Nicolas yet? You really should. Not sure where he is just now.
