the parts have arrived!

Today I picked up the spigots I ordered for my Absinthe fountain project... they are quite nice, although may need a bit of treatment to reduce the shine.

Since I first posted about this project I found a glass reservoir of a better size, and have treated it's lid and base (originally a candle holder) with a pewter finish -- I think it looks far better than the shiny silver. Since I went with the pewter finish on some parts I thought brass spigots might be a nice contrast.

The treated lid...

The treated candle holder...

The new glass reservoir (a much better size, I think)...

It looks a bit "top heavy", but the base is amazingly heavy and stable (even when the reservoir is filled with water)

The spigots (I ordered four, but will probably only use two)...

The spigots were obtained from a supplier in the US... I couldn't find anything quite right locally (or in Canada in general). Fortunately, they didn't charge the $65 shipping they indicated on their website, so in the end the price was quite reasonable.

This weekend I will pick up the masonry bits to drill through the glass, and hopefully by Sunday evening will enjoy a fine glass of Absinthe with my new fountain!
