Yeah, my PS2 was dying... it was not reading any discs at all. No DREs, it just didn't read discs.
I was worried that I would have to buy a new one, and specially now that I don't have any money, though I thought it did a good run, it was 5 years and half old, and it only gave me DREs on blue discs, which I don't have (well, except for Gradius V, but I get it to work). And specially since a friend of mine also has his PS2 broken right now (what a coincidence, I know) and it was having the same problem as mine, though he opened it and he found the problem, his PSlim 2 wasn't working, the fliptop is not making enough contact to make the laser move.
Ok, so he now needs his PS2 repaired, he asked me to lend him mine, but that's where I found out of my own problem...
All that happened Thursday, now yesterday (Friday), I came from work and opened the console to see if I could fix it, I first cleaned the lens and removed all dirt (or most of it), tried the console and surprisingly it worked, it was working better than ever! Not even DREs on blue discs! So now my PS2 has an 2nd chance and now I can play calmed knowing that my PS2 has at least some life in it. ^_^
