Night At The Theater
I went back home to Toledo this weekend, mainly to see my grandma. She turned 92.
My grandma is feisty. She's one of those ladies that'll tell it like it is and will give you an opinion whether you want one or not. But the lady that I saw this weekend is not her. She's a shell of the woman that she was. It tore my heart out when I went to her room and she couldn't even lift a remote. She at least has her faculties and is still pretty sharp, but her body is failing her. She needs help for everything now, and it really tears me up every time I see two aides help her from the chair to the wheelchair.
Anyway, Grandma wanted Lee's fried chicken. And i really don't blame grandma for wanting Lee's especially when we saw the menu for the residents that night.... Fried bologna sandwiches and pudding. eww.
On the way back from the Nursing home, I came to the realization that I really miss living near water. I really, really miss it. There's something calming about being near or on the water. This is one of my favorite views.. Cedar Point from across Sandusky Bay.
After getting home from the nursing home, I decided to head into Maumee because they were having their "Taste of Maumee" festival thingy. In truth, there were three local restaurants there, the rest were national chains. I did take some pics but they didn't come out like I thought they would.
Saturday was IKEA..... I love the IKEA. I finally got my poang chair and got some new towels (I know... thrilling to talk about, isn't it?). Met up with Ron, Greg, Dan and Paul at Ron and Greg's new place. I haven't seen them since before they went to live in Switzerland a couple years ago. We chatted, we saw pics from Europe, Greg showed me the 6 man hot tub which looked sooooo comfy and that's where I got my new icon. We also went to this place for dinner called Shorty's. It's a BBQ place, and they have the BEST beef brisket. I took a pic of the ribs that another guy got....
They looked incredible.
went out to experience the nightlife of toledo since it's been forever since I've been out up there. Went to The Ripcord downtown. Now, this was a dive when I lived there, and it still looks divey. but the owner also bought the bar next door, Hooterville Station, gutted it and turned it into a place called The Warehouse. This place looked incredible, like something you would see in Chicago. It was a good time.
Stopped in Bowling Green on the way home and lunch and visited with
gyvyr, then came home and put together my Poang chair. It's sooooooooo comfy! And, while I was gone, Chris got ill with sinuses, had a fever and lost his voice. He looks so cute when he's sick.
