Right. Like I didn't have enough trauma from my sister and Willow disappearing at Buffy's birthday party. Spike had the crazy idea that he was going to take me to L.A. with him. I snicker. "He bugs everyone, except for those people who think he's, like, hot. I don't. He's too full of himself for that."

I watch Jordy; he seems really bugged about this.

"It's cool," I say, glancing at him thoughtfully. If I didn't know better, I'd wonder if he liked J or something. Maybe he's just being all protective, which is very cute.

"J usually has decent taste in guys-- the vamp thing was a brief moment of insanity," I offer. "If he's as lame as we think he is, she'll realize it for herself. I'm sure she will."

"I wasn't gonna say that." I was just gonna sit here and think it to myself. Hmmm... "C'mon, she wouldn't have any reason to just not be friends with you. Unless there's more to it than you just told me."

I'm thinking maybe I should talk to Jan and see if I can pull anything out of her. I sure as heck could use something to distract me from the bizarreness around here.

"I don't wanna hang out with him either," I tell him. "I just can't see her with all the Eric-groupies." I shrug.

Poor guy. It sucks to feel like you've put a foot wrong somewhere but you can't figure out where or how. I smile at him. "Tell you what, next time I talk to her, I'll see if I can't dig something out of her. I mean, all subtle-like, you know."

"Sure," I say, standing up and stretching. "I'm cool like that."

Glancing at the clock, I see that it's nearly midnight. "Geesh, go home, Jordy." I wink at him so he won't take that wrong. "We both have school tomorrow!"
