I was reading information the upcoming summer movie DOOM based on the video game. Not only am I excited about this movie (although the critics are having, and will have, a field day being it's a video-game-to-movie film) I am excited about the cast, and I am sharing my excitement with you my fellow readers, not because you care (and I'm sure most of you don't ;) ) but because I have nothing else to say at this time.

According to the Universal Studios website, here's the snuff on the film:

Producers: Lorenzo di Bonaventura, John Wells
Writers: Wesley Strick, Dave Callaham
Director: Enda McCallion
Cast: Karl Urban, The Rock, Rosamund Pike

I have taken the liberty to research what these people have done in the wonderful world of films:

The Producers:

Lorenzo di Bonaventura: Seems to be a up and coming producer as his only major film credit is Constantine which isn't openning until June or July.

John Wells: A seasoned producer, writer, and director. Notable past projects are: The Peacemaker (1997-co executive producer), One Hour Photo (2002-executive producer), ER (writing and directing various episodes)

The Writers:

Wesley Strick: A good writer by the look at his notable stuff: Wolf (1994-written by), The Saint (1997-screenplay), The Glass House (2001-written by) [Note: the IMDb (International Movie Database) doesn't list him as working on the movie on his profile, however, they didn't list the producers or director on the movie's profile, even though the movie was listed on theirs.]

Dave Callaham: Seems to be a rookie writer, this being his first project.

The Director:

Enda McCallion: According to the IMDb McCallion was replaced by Andrzej Bartkowiak.

Andrzej Bartkowiak: Mostly a cinematographer/filmographer with credits including: Thirteen Days (2000), Lethal Weapon 4 (1998), The Mirror Has Two Faces (1996), Species (1995), Falling Down (1993), and Twins (1988). His directing experience seems to start with Romeo Must Die (2000), other notable films are Exit Wounds (2001), and Cradle 2 The Grave (2003).

Cast:

Karl Urban: He's been in Ghost Ship (2002) the last two Lord of the Rings movies (Two Towers (2002), RotK (2003)), The Chronicles of Riddick (2004), and The Bourne Supremacy (2004) all of which I've seen and enjoyed.

The Rock: A WWF (I will never use WWE) wrestler turned hollywood actor, has been in the last two Mummy movies (Mummy Returns (2001), Scorpion King (2002)), The Rundown (2003), Walking Tall (2004) as well as guest appearances on notable TV shows such as That 70's Show, and Star Trek: Voyager.

Rosamund Pike: Pretty much a TV actress, however her filmography includes Die Another Day (2002)

Well that's the skinny on DOOM so far as I know. Hoping they release a trailer or teaser sometime soon!
