Chicago winters are cold and lonely.
The trees are without their leaves, and everyone relies on bundles of scarves to keep them warm.
People aren't roaming the streets like they usually do.
Its so cold your skin burns, and feels tight.
Winter may be lonely but it is beautiful.
a warm blanket of snow protects the trees without their leaves,
and covers the barren ground.
Snow distracts the cold and creates a static that warms the air.
every flake its own pattern, each inscribed with a promise of better things to come.
clouds hover over mouths reminding us all we are real
Careful as you walk, the path is icy and dangerous
But soon, spring will arrive
and Chicago will rise from the dead
back to the bustling city of fast commuters and quick talkers
until it is winter again.
