Fandom: Lord of the Rings
Title: A Natural Talent
Characters/pairing: Curufin, Feanor, Celegorm
Prompt: 095. Triumph
Word Count: 100
Rating: G
Summary: At an early age, Curufin shows a natural aptitude for his father's arts.
Author's Notes: Thank you, lbilover, for your always-perfect suggestions.
Curufin's Notes: Mun-creature, your accuracy in the portrayal of this scene as I show up my dear brother is almost as impressive as my inherent skills. Too bad you did not have space to elaborate on Celegorm's sulking, petulant display.

Curufin, engrossed, watched his father instruct Celegorm in his workshop. He absorbed every word, hoping this vigilance would disprove Feanor's opinion he was too young for such lessons. His brother wasn’t as attentive; the gem he was faceting split under his chisel.

"You bear down too heavily, open your stance," Curufin freely observed. Feanor looked sharply at him.

"Could you do better?" snapped Celegorm, reddening.

Curufin traced the stone's rough planes. He angled the stonecutter carefully, giving it three assured taps. Stone slivers fell away, perfect facets revealing brilliant color and sparkle. Curufin beamed triumphantly at his father. Feanor smiled.
