Curufin's Notes: Did I say all of our father/son moments were not scarring? Well, this ended up scarring for me. Literally. My son, the clutzy Elf. But I love him anyway.
His father had nearly completed the blade. Celebrimbor imagined how the weapon would look when finished, flashing in his hand as he slew one of the slavering wolves roaming Himlad! He bobbed and bounced, preparing to lop off the imaginary enemy's head.
Distracted, Celebrimbor forgot what he was about, and the unfinished sword skated along the anvil. Curufin, his arm plunging down, stiffened but couldn’t stop the hammer's arc. The blade snapped, sending shards bristling into the air. Dimly, Celebrimbor heard his father's gasp of pain as the force of his swing carried his hand along the sword's broken edge.
