Night in Yizhou
Since arriving in Yizhou, most days have been fairly cloudy.
Today, however, was frightfully cold this morning, especially in my apartment (I can see how it's going to be terrible in the winter).
It warmed up considerably this afternoon, but the sky was lovely and clear.
This evening, I spent some time on my balcony after midnight looking at the stars. It's absolutely amazing- looking out at the stars between the mountains. And there was a moment- maybe five whole minutes (which is astonishing) when there was no sound from the city other than the songs of the crickets far below me.
A truly astonishing moment in life.
The cold night air, the clear sky, the crickets, the mountains, the stars, China, and me.
