Fortunately I had a good epidural going, so that was one less thing to worry about. It was just fun to see all these people scrambling around for me. lol
They had Bryce change and had him wait out in the waiting area until I was set up and all that good stuff. They set up the curtain and poked my stomach with something sharp, but I only felt pressure. A guess someone missed that they checked me because when they started really cutting someone asked 'Have you checked her yet?' That amused me.
Bryce stood by my head and stoked my hair as he watched what he could see over the curtain. I couldn't believe he was watching it - I don't think I could ever watch someone I love being operated on. I can't even watch those operation shows they have on TLC and what-not.
It was a strange experience to only feel pressure. I didn't feel much until they started pushing on me and getting the baby into place. I was carrying him quite high, so a lot of pushing was needed. So I was being jostled around a lot, but it was somewhat relaxing (or I was just that tired). I could feel them take the baby out, which Bryce confirmed when he said he could see the head. I felt more baby come out and heard the most wonderful noise ever. I'll go in record saying his first little cries are the best thing I've ever heard. I even got a little choked up over it.
Then I heard them say what the problem was. Someone declared there was a knot in the cord and Bryce confirmed it to be a granny knot. My son's already a boyscout.
So they took him over to get cleaned up and all that good stuff while the doctors kept pushing on me to get the afterbirth out. I got to look over and see him after they were done and he cleaned up surprisingly well. But he was still all wrinkly and looked like a goblin. lol Then they swaddled him and put his little hat on and Bryce brought him over to lay next to me. He was crying of course (who wouldn't be) so I told him that 'It's okay' and 'I know' and 'You only had to do that once.' That quieted him down well. Then they took him to the nursery.
Putting me back together seemed to take forever. Bryce went with the baby to the nursery and came back, but was left behind again when they took me to recovery. Fortunately he used that time to call family. I was complimented several times by the nurses for being such a great patient. I guess they're used to people freaking out when they need a c-section. I don't see what the big deal is, and I've always known it's a possibility. In many ways it sounded better to me than vaginal birth, so I wasn't broken up about it or anything.
Bryce was soon allowed in recovery after I was settled. We were there for over two hours, but it felt much shorter. My parents came just before they were going to take me to my room, so they waited in the room for a while after they were kicked out of recovery for me to be checked over one more time.
We had a good visit after I got to my room. I was sorry they didn't get to see Luke real closely, but they did get to see him labeled in the nursery.
So that was my Monday and it was a really great experience. It went perfectly for everything not being perfect. :)
