'The Stuff of Dreams'

I read the newest of the translated Vampire Hunter D books yesterday. This one's my favorite yet and I'm sure the books are improving. The characters are getting more rounded out and it's now been two books since anyone got raped or was even in danger of it. The last book, Tale of the Dead Town had the bad guy who did good things and people who did bad things with good intentions rather than the mobs of people who just want to rape the cannon sues of the first three books. (And the mandatory girl played the smallest role to date in the plot).

The Stuff of Dreams really has no bad guy. The antagonists are only doing what I would do if I found myself in their position. The mandatory village jerk called the mandatory girl a bitch a couple of times, but makes no threats of physical violence against her.

But don't fear, there are still fun descriptions of D:

D's introduction while asleep
Lying on a bed of grass, the moonlight shone down on him like a spotlight. While his face couldn't be seen for the black, wide-brimmed traveler's hat that covered it, the deep-blue pendant that hung at his chest, the black long coat, the high leather boots with their silver spurs, and, more than anything, the elegant longsword leaing against his shoulder left no room for muddled conjectre or doubt. All those things were meant to adorn someone beautiful.

Remember that D is so pretty, he can make straight men swoon.
Just then, footsteps echoed from one of the numerous corridors and a figure in white came running toward him. The figure became an old man with a white beard who crossed the lobby at a lively pace and halted in front of the Hunter. Gazing steadfastly at D, he moaned, "Oh my!" By the look on his face, he wished he were a woman. "Looks like I'll have to move my famale patients and nurses somewhere else. I'm Allen, the hospital director."
