Recently unearthed by my dad. Forgive the whiteout/blurriness, I really don't know how to photograph documents properly.
This appears to be some sort of Italian ration card. Didn't know they had rationing in Italy, my mental image was of them all sipping espresso and painting frescoes while the Hermann Goering Fallschirm Panzer Division and 90th Panzergrenadier counterattacked the beachheads in Sicily.
Who knows, maybe the only rationed item was bottles of Frangelico.
An interesting find. This is the sort of chivalry you can expect when two peoples from basically the same cultural roots go to war out of geopolitical necessity. Their bitter struggle cannot totally efface a sense of humanity and mutual respect. This was entirely absent in the war of annihilation in the East.
