I can think of a few things that don’t amount to much more ‘n the whole ‘honor among thieves’ bit, but that ain’t worth discussin’. Shit, how much honor you think thieves actually got? And con men ‘n grifters got less still, so let’s not waste our time.
You wanna talk about rules you don’t break, shit you don’t do ever? There’s only a couple. Number one on my list?
You don’t raise your hand to a woman. Ever.
I’ll be first to admit, I’ve hurt plenty of females in my day, but I ain’t yet ever done one physical arm. Call it a point of pride if you will, ‘cause I am damn proud of that. Good man or not, I know better ‘n to strike a woman. Can’t say the same for those dogs that kidnaped us, kidnaped Claire, left her child alone in the goddamn jungle...
Guess that’s the second rule on my short little list of shit you just don’t do ever: you don’t harm a child. Ever. And you sure as shit don’t take him from the bosom of his family, I don’t care who you are.
Shame ol’ Tom never did figure that out. Might still be alive if he had.
