The VIllanelle: The Perseid's Nocturne

Feb 14, 2007 21:24

It was with just one simple, solemn chord
That the night so suddenly began -
A mere second yet it seemed so pure

As the strings of light who had endured
The day’s ebbing flow died down
In just one simple, serene chord.

Even the world stood silent; still; obscure
As the jaded blades of grass listened
For a mere second; it seemed so pure.

And the stars of beauty surpassing words
Shall combine by this hand of mine,
Drifting in just one silver chord

Of all those senseless lines which were
An attempt to redefine the world.
A mere second yet it seemed so pure

As my etches swirled in sweet disorder
With fingers dancing across the sky
In just on insignificant chord
Which, for a mere second, seemed so pure.
