As most of you know, ej33t and myself went to see NIN on Friday night. They were ok, not great.

"What was the best concert you ever saw? What made it so great?"The best concert I've seen was Nightwish. They played well, and Tarja's voice was just awesome ( Read more... )

my favourite concerts? I go to a lot, so this will be long.

I haven't thought of it in this way, but honestly, likely the Billy Corgan concert that my friends and I drove all the way up to Philadelphia for (it was 1,800 miles, and one long ass trip). he is an amazing guitarist, and was in quite a gleeful mood when we saw him. he even held up a big sign that said, "birthmarks are sexy" that someone had made for him.

also, seeing the Magnetic Fields last year in one of the oldest theatres in Florida was quite an amazing exeperience. it was completely different, sitting down, seeing the band on this stage with red velvet curtains around, the sound was amazing...*sigh* AND that was how my love and I were introduced to Darren Hanlon, a charming Austrailian singer/songwriter, who we'd never have found otherwise. I highly suggest anyone over Down Under find him and check him out.

the two Pumpkins concerts I went to when I was ages 15 and 17 were like religious experiences for me...and what was even better - no opening acts! w00t!

Boston Pops on the Fourth of July last year was amazing. it was a near lifelong dream I've had to see that Pops Goes Fourth! concert, and I got to. Keith Lockhart blew my friend and me a kiss, as well. ;)

and Tori Amos and Ben Folds. even though Ben Folds kind of stole the show, and I was freezing cold the whole time, Tori played "Silent All These Years" and her cover of "Smells Like Teen Spirit" back to back. holy crap.

that's all for right now.

Corgan hasn't been making many fans out here in Australia recently. He walked out on a concert in Melbourne last month, and the interviews he gave over a few of the national radio stations weren't very flattering. I don't think he even made it over to this side of the country, although I can only hazard a guess at that being due to the horrible publicity he'd been involved with.

Also; Tori Amos and Ben Folds? Omg, colour me jealous and call me Kermit.

yeah, I heard about his tempermentality in Australia. :-/ he can be a huge asshole sometimes - I just consider myself lucky that we got to see him when he shut up and did what he does best - playing music. he was apparently kind of an ass in Atlanta, too, which was way closer for us to go see, so I'm glad we got to see such a great show in Philly for having driven such a long way. :)
