telltale Name a show you can't miss:
Not to be missed when new (and sometimes in repeats as well) are Supernatural, Friday Night Lights, Lost, Battlestar Galactica (it's not over quite yet), How I Met Your Mother, Doctor Who and Torchwood. But I also watch and try to catch every week: House, Fringe (it's working up the latter to 'can't miss'), Heroes (although it's loosing ground fast - if not for Sylar I'd already be gone), True Blood, Brothers & Sisters, Desperate Housewives (for Gale Harold - when he goes, I go), Dexter, Entourage, Pushing Daisies, Bones, and Smallville (it's lost and gained ground so many times watching it is almost like a sport now).
Name an actor who would make you more inclined to watch a show:
Nathan Fillion. Michael Vartan. Jensen Ackles. Noah Wyle. Jason Dohring. Evangeline Lilly. Jennifer Garner. Kristen Bell. Neil Patrick Harris. Tom Welling. Eliza Dushku. Gale Harold.
Name an actor who would make you less likely to watch a show:
None really spring to mind. I mean there have been some pretty awful guest stars on shows, but as far as just turning me off an entire project - not really.
Name a show you can and do quote from: (Just one example each, but there are so many more)
Firefly - "I'm going to the special hell", BtVS - "Fire bad. Tree pretty." (plus bonus points for knowing every single word in OMWF), Supernatural - "This sucks out loud", Battlestar Galactica - "Frak" (Of course it counts. When a show creates a whole word that has moved into general pop culture - it totally counts.), How I Met Your Mother - "It's going to be legend -wait for it- dary, legendary!", Veronica Mars - "This is my over the moon face".
Name a show you would recommend everyone to watch:
Just one? I guess I always do recommend Firefly first. Next would be the rest of my current 'Don't miss under any circumstances' shows and then BtVS and Veronica Mars.
Name a TV series you own on DVD: *cough**Both bought and dubbed**cough*
Firefly (all + Serenity), Lost (S1-S3), Supernatural (S1-S3), Battlestar Glactica (mini + S1-S3), BtVS (all except S3 - I need it!), Smallville (S1-S5), Queer as Folk (all), Everwood(S1 - the only season released fuck you very much WB), Angel (S5 and S4 - Faith arc), Alias (all), Felicity (all), How I Met Your Mother (S1-S2, need S3 - have S3 on my external HD), Veronica Mars (all), Dexter (S1) Entourage (S1-S2), Friday Night Lights (S1 - need S2), Arrested Developement (all - although I haven't watched them yet)... That might be it. I also have almost all of Doctor Who and Torchwood on my external HD. F
Name an actor who launched his/her entertainment career in another medium but who has surprised you with his/her acting chops in television:
My mind is blank on this one. I mean, I could probably think of a few singer to actors who do movies, but TV shows? Not really.
What is your favorite episode of your favorite series? *sorry, I gotta do a few each here...
Lost - "Pilot", "Outlaws", "Do No Harm", "Live Together, Die Alone", "I Do" and honestly a few others but those are the episode names that I know by heart.
Firefly - "Jaynestown", "Our Mrs. Reynolds", "Out of Gas", "Objects in Space"
Supernatural - "Hell House", "Nightshifter", "What Is and What Should Never Be" (my favorite-favorite, if I were pushed), "Bad Day At Black Rock", "Lazarus Rising"
Buffy - "Suprise/Innocence", "Becoming" Pt. 1 and Pt. 2, "The Wish", "Graduation Day" - Pt.1 and Pt. 2, "This Years Girl/Who Are You", "The Yoko Factor", "Fool for Love", S5 "The Body" all the way threw "The Gift" (I LOVE the last half of S5 with a mighty passion), "Once More With Feeling", "Dirty Girls", "Chosen".
Damn. This is getting out of hand. Damn you wikipedia!
Battlestar Galactica - OK. I'm just going to link to this list of 43 favorite BSG moments of all time by
ack_attack. It basically rules. But that was before the first half of S4. I bet she'd have to add at least 15 more now. Because S4 is just woah. I could list episode names here but honestly it all just flows like a complete animal. Even more so than Lost, so it really is a show made of of huge moments.
Queer as Folk - episodes 3.11 (they didn't name the episodes) and way to many others, but 2 of the hottest B/J scenes ever pushed this one over the top. Basically all the really good Brian/Justin stuff, so yeah - bits and peices of the whole show. Yeah, for me personally this is another show made of of moments. But these moments tend to be much, much smuttier.
Alias - "Truth Be Told", "Almost 30 Years", "Phase One", "Double Agent", "The Telling", "The Two", "Crossings", "Welcome to Liberty Village", "Before the Flood", "Prophet Five", "The Horizon", "Maternal Instincts", "No Hard Feelings", "All the Time in the World".
Name a show you keep meaning to watch but you just haven’t gotten around to yet:
I guess those Arrested Developement copies I have at home. I think I'm getting Farscape for Christmas and I'll probably hop right on that.
Ever quit watching a show because it was so bad?
Oh sure. I usually quit at least one or two shows a year after about 4 or 5 episodes if they don't really hook me by then. Right now Heroes is trying my patience. I have a long standing love/hate/hate relationship with Smallville. And I even HAVE quit it for a time, only to be sucked back in by the power that is Welling. He has the thrall over me. *spits*
Name a show that's made you cry multiple times:
Jesus. For serious? Ok, you asked for it... Supernatural (although not a ton - but I have wept threw an entire episode - "What is and What Should Never Be" so that has to count for something big), Friday Night Lights, Lost, ER, BtVS, Everwood, Alias, Angel, Smallville (more out of just my heart wrenching agony over the whole issue - see 'fandom wank' in my tags for my explanation on this). And I know there has to be more. I'm a big ole weeper.
What's your favorite/preferred genre of TV?
Sci-Fi I guess. Or just drama. Or drama/comedy. *shrug*
What was the first TV show you were obsessed with?
Buffy. But my first online fandom was Smallville.
What TV show do you wish you never watched?
Smallville. On the level that it has caused alot more pain and frustation than joy - BUT I did meet a group of wonderful friends in that fandom whom I am still close to so for that reason I can't say that completely. That's like me saying I regret ever marrying my ex-husband when I can't regret where my daughter came from even if it was a disasterous mistake in every way except that. But yeah, you get the point.
What TV show scared you the most?
Supernatural still has it's moments. I don't watch anything scarier than that. I'm a pansy.
What is the funniest TV show you have ever watched?
Geez. Quite a few have there moments. Right now I literally can't watch too many episodes of How I Met Your Mother at a clip because I get a laugh hangover. I love the gems we get out of SPN. I LOL during SPN alot and it brings me great joy every single week. Entourage has also had it's moments - but they are getting fewer and farther between this season. Some of the subtle comedy in Firefly remains some of the most classic and enduring. It holds up.
Do you prefer TV to films?
TV. Without a doubt.
Name current TV relationships that you love. **NOTE: To me a 'ship' is a couple I would read fanfic about. Just to be clear.
- On current shows: Barney/Robin, Sawyer/Kate (no, it's NOT over), Clark/Lana (this is really a 'previous ship' - but the show is still current so here it is).
- On previous shows: Brian/Justin (the only fic I'm reading right now is all B/J), Ephram/Amy, Sydney/Vaughn, Simon/Kaylee, Logan/Veronica, Spike/Buffy, Angel/Buffy (yes, you can like and appreciate both).
Damn this took my almost all day. So sorry flist. I only made it to Saturday night on my weekend flist. I'll try to catch up more tomorrow. But now my work day is done and my brain is fried from this meme and my hand is d.e.a.d.
