Howdy people. I'm not sure who's actually going to read this...but as long as I get a few people's attention then that's good enough.
I've discussed the return of the Halo Day party with most everyone recently but I want to try to make it happen. The first step of course would be setting the date. No one wanted to do it this month so I didn't even try.
I checked the calendar and I'd like to shoot for November the 10th. It's a Saturday. Saturday's are good right? I don't know if the schools get that Monday off as well...but it's a long weekend for us Gov employees. I suppose it could be bad if people do silly things like go home. Who would go home so close to Thanksgiving though?
Next is people. I'd really like to rely on some people as spokesmen. Becca and Jess if you two read this I hope you wouldn't mind rallying your troops. Not sure who else you can get...Jonny and Toast I'm sure. Kellen if you have anyone you can bring let me know. I'm planning to use Brett as "Ambassador to Georgia Southern". I know there's a good chance of getting some of them up here.
Next thing up is equipment. For stuff that we have...there's the big screen, brett's tv, one copy of Halo3, a router (and a second hub), and 5 controllers. We'll probably be doing two tv's in the living room, one in brett's room, and the last in my room (similar to the setup we had at the last one). We have two boxes for people to use. Most people will probably want their own profiles though.
Speaking of profiles...
If anyone has an xbox memory device let me know. If not I might see into obtaining one so that people can transfer profiles to different boxes. If only to avoid "I have to play on this box cause it be having my profile!".
I know that Becca and Jess can provide a box, at least 3 controllers, and a copy of the game. Andy has a controller we could get (with or without him depending on if he's being anti social). I know Albert has a box and an unknown number of controllers (at least 2). If we get the Statesboro people signed on I'm sure we could get a box, a copy of the game, and at least 4 controllers.
Tvs. As I said we have two that are good enough for multiplayer. My personal tv is a little old and small. We can use it if worse comes to worse. I'd like to see if there are two reasonably sized televisions out there we could borrow though. Anyone know?
So...that leaves us at a probable 4 boxes, 2 tvs, 3 copies of the game, and 15 odd controllers. Not exactly everything...but if it comes down to it...I suppose a few more controllers might be purchased and another copy of the game rented.
Getting the guest list confirmed and the equipment checked out is going to be a pain...but I think we have a shot at a full day of 16+ people hanging out and playing.
I know the experience of everyone who stands to be involved runs the gamut from beginner to "OMG I just killed 5 of their guys and stole the flag single-handedly!". We did a good job of balancing the teams a few years ago though. I don't think anyone had a bad time. There's a lot of new multiplayer game types and some custom ones I'll be making for the occasion.
But honestly is there anyone out there who doesn't want to try 16man zombies? >_>
The last issue is food and drinks. I don't want to be a douche and require everyone to bring shit (though if you'd like to that'd be cool too). I might require a cover though. $5 or something. If there is a cover there's a lot more chance everyone will get food, drinks, and possibly alcohol.
If you read this drop me a comment or give me a call. Going to try to spread the word. Do the same if you get the chance. Thanks.
