I guess I could try to pick this up right where I left off.
Kelly never showed up. Boo Kelly! Her car ended up spending the entire week I was back home in the shop. Then it proceeded to die on her again when she returned to Tampa the following week. O_o Kel you really need to take that car out behind the shed...
I can't really remember what I spent the rest of that week doing. I know Amanda came over to swim one afternoon and I went bowling with Jayme and Ryan the day I left. It's only been a month since I went home...and I always complain about not having anything to do there...but I do feel like visiting.
When I got back to Macon there was still a week before I had orientation. So...I basically just played WoW a lot. Lauren came up when she got back from New York and bummed around for a bit. I think she ended up leaving the Tuesday after orientation started.
Orientation at the base was BALLS. Absolute balls.
It was a week long (Mon-Fri and Mon-Tues)...and consisted of pointless information sessions and computer "training". I'll have you all know I have my anti-terrorism certificate. >_>
I would say I'm doing more now that I'm "on the job"...but I'm actually doing less. My first Wed-Fri consisted of sitting around...meeting people who's names I'll never remember...and pretty much wasting time. Oh...and computer problems.
One of the main reasons I couldn't do anything productive (or so I thought) was because I had no e-mail access. Well the IT people...doing what they do best...didn't get to me until last Monday. So then I had e-mail! Hurrah!
What?...now I need access to web-based engineering databases? Ok. Fill out some forms? Alright. Clearance? I don't have that yet. Get a waiver? Ok. Go get another security background check? Really?...alright. Submit the forms. Wait for a reply...wait...wait...wait....wow it's Friday already? Lunch time! Oh I got my access password! Sweet.
That's basically how it went. I spent my first week on the job in a constant state of waiting on other people. What did I do? Sit...think up roleplaying ideas, post on my WoW guild forums, surf the limited section of the internet I have access to, and read the first Harry Potter book.
It looked like I might start on something today...but after our 9:00 meeting...my supervisors got shat on and are going to be busy till Wednesday.
I don't know if I'm really upset...I AM lazy after all. I don't really have a problem sitting here and getting paid for it. I just know the longer they make me wait the less I'll want to do work when it finally comes around. -_-
It would be nice if Byron hadn’t taken the day off and brought the next Potter book.
Speaking of that...Byron (an ME from Mercer that I knew) has become my "single-friend". Not that he's single...he's actually married now. He's just my ONLY friend here. He's like one of three people in a 50 yard radius that's even close to my own age. >_>; Jordan is out here...but in a different building. Might as well be across the county. At least we can e-mail each other?
It's really just about hanging in my cubicle...watching the clock. I don't get super excited though. Most days there isn't a lot to do when I get off.
Monday's have become DnD nights. It was Thursday when I started with them a few weeks ago...but I love the change already. It sucks coming back to work after a short weekend...and this social activity is a nice pick-me-up. If you want to check out what we've been doing in the game go to my friends page for Jess' posts.
Tuesday-Thursday is basically WoW raiding nights. Our guild has had a lot of ups and downs since I joined a few months ago. As of this morning we merged with another guild our same size. We've cleared Kara and Gruul's. The GM is hoping the merger will let us press on to stuff like SSC and Mag. For anyone that isn't a WoW dweeb...we've been clearing the shit on Medium and we want to move up to Hard difficulty.
We don't raid till 8:00-8:30 though...so I usually spend my time before that RPing with Kel, surfing the net, or...farming on WoW.
Friday isn't what it used to be. Right now it's hard to do our normal thing because Brett works most Friday's now. When the Mercer guys get back I'm sure we'll be back to our old gaming nights. For now though we usually go out to eat and waste money on "toys".
Saturday is the new "movie day". Other than that it's used to just bum around. Same as always really.
Sunday's have been about the same since Freshman year of college. Sunday is the day I reset. I clean my room, I wash my clothes, I buy food, etc... Basically just prep myself for the next week.
That's a week in the life of Phil. Pretty boring huh? Yea I know.
To be honest I just made it worse. Allow me to explain. =P
The lovely govn't decided that I wouldn't get paid until the end of my third week...which happened to be last Friday. Didn't get my bonus...but my checking account went up over 200%. Let me tell you that kicks ass. I went from "broke" to "living comfortable".
Well I had to celebrate by buying SOMETHING worthless. So I bought Lord of the Rings Online.
Yes...that's right. A second MMORPG.
Why? Bordom. Plain and simple. I like playing MMO's...but I hate making alts. So I just bought a new one. I've been bugging Kel to play WoW with me and she's been bugging me to play LotR with her...and I guess I just cave easier. =P
I think it'll come in handy. It's new...it's fresh. There's not much to do in WoW anymore but raid. To be honest...if Conan is half of what they promise it to be I'll be dropping both of these by the end of the year anyway. >_>;
Upcoming events (i.e. shit I’ll probably recap next month):
-Another Lauren visit!
-My bonus!
-My birthday!
Look forward to it!
