Man...all this talk about RPGs has got my tendency for obsession going. By that I mean I have a way of getting stuck on something until I purge it from my system...or perpetuate it until it exhausts itself

Man, you really should have sat in on our Falkenstein campaign. You sat in on probably the poorest performance we've had in a while. Falkenstein was amazing in its hilarity and the amount we played in character (Toaster and I particularly).
I hope next session goes better than the last. I know I have some good ideas on what to do/how to do it now that I've looked into the mechanics a bit I can feel a bit more free with my character.
I understand what you mean in the difference between online and tabletop RPGing. I started in chat rooms, then moved to play-by-e-mail, then message board, then more chat rooms, then finally to White Wolf and beyond in real life. I enjoyed the freedom of the story, though when n00bs joined it was always annoying. God-moding so pissed me off. The action *L33td00d12 kills everyone in the room* .... sigh.
I still have all my old posts, even from the very beginning. Old chat logs, text files of the e-mails, etc. From when I was 12/13. It makes me cringe to read them now, but it helps to see how much I've grown in my writing. It's too bad I've stopped writing. I haven't had the time for it in a very long while, and I no longer have the time to sit in front of the comp for a whole RP session, or even an hour long sim. I've retired all my fleet characters and now only play one-offs with people when they're hurting for crew.

I think it would be great if I could get past the awkwardness of being in person.
Never went to PBE or message boards. I guess I need the speed of a chat room. I like reactions and to react to events as they happen (relatively).
I understand "noobs" all too well though. I didn't stay in public chat rooms for more than a few months. I've ethier played in private rooms with a close group of people or done it on AIM individually.
*lol* I don't think I have anything back from that early. I do have some old stuff though. Not sure how much better I've become. Bigger vocabulary at least. =P I rarely use proper punctuation though. I'll take a "..." for a pause over a comma any day.
