REPO!!!!
Saw Repo!The Genetic Opera Tuesday night and was just.....amazed. Holy shit it was awesome!! Almost 70% of the people there came in costume (alas, not I) :B The movie itself was flooring and fantastic, but the *experience* was what made it just EPIC. First, everyone was already fanboys/girls and made the audience one big supportive...family...it almost felt like :) Before the show started, the touring manager (I think?) of the show came up and introduced it, spoke a bit, and then told us he wanted some singing until showtime. Soooo a large portion of the audience started singing songs from the movie and actually did a decent job :p (I sang a little..more to myself though, since we were in the front row and most of the people joining in were in the middle section of the house). So then the director Darren Lynn Bousman (directed Saw sequels), Terrance Zdunich (Graverobber <3 <3 <3 and co-creator), and the guy who did music (don't know his name :x) came up front and did their own introduction...which I filmed....and then ON WITH THE SHOW!
The movie itself was just brilliant....I think I'll just leave it at that or else I'll be going on forever :3
After the show, Terrance, Darren, and music guy came up front again for a Q&A afterwards. It was just complete awesomeness :P They were just so dedicated to their brain child...it really showed. No sense of a them being " untouchable" as I feel many people in the industry can give the vibe of. I mostly watched Terrance..I won't lie XD The questions were all great and the answers gave TONS of insight into the creation, making, producing etc etc etc of the film. Even some inside jokes were shared :B I won't go into the tidbits we got (at least not in this post) because it would be soooooo loooong. One of my favorite moments though went a bit like this:
Guy comes up to the mic to ask a question, "Um, Terrance, I hate to do this but just to be clear......what's your job?" Then Terrance smiled....kind of looked at the other two who said something like "Just go for it" and then he proceeded to sing, ".....to steal and rob...GRAAAAAVES" Lulz. You'd have to be familiar with the songs at least (if not the movie/characters) to get it.....go listen to Twenty First Century Cure on youtube or something and you'll understand :)
After the Q&A they went to the lobby to do autographs. Tyler and I sort of...cut halfway into line somehow XD The wait was still looooong (keep in mind, this is at 1am in the morning...movie started at 10pm). Finally though we got to the table...and I lost my words XD Can we say fangirl, much? I sort of just stared awkwardly at Terrance and said 'Hi'..then told him it was all just awesome or something. I am so lame lol. He signed my mini poster (free large postcard thingy) then took a picture with me, and finally gave me a hug and a kiss <3 <3 <3 *swoons* I then told him I'd love to do some fanart and he told me where I could send it and that he would love some art :B Funs. The director and music guy had signed my card while I was talking to Terrance, and just sort of ignored us otherwise *shrugs* I understand...it was late and the line was still huge. Tyler and I then left and immediately told each other we were sad it was all over but that it was beyond awesome :P
Sigh...I feel a little empty now it's over...I always seem to get depressed after I have a really amazing experience :/
Now...as an announcement: This movie is in danger of going bye-bye D: The producing company didn't even want to release it because they thought it was horrible...yet there was a MASSIVE fan base even before the movie came out, and we're even more enthusiastic after seeing it. Please..if it interests you at ALL....just check out the site at least? www.repo-opera.com If there is enough support there is a possibility the theater release will become more widespread! You might love it, or hate it...I really don't care..but check it out? Even if just to see what I'm blabbering about ;)
