knitting..

hi again,
so i was going to write this entry singing the praises of the 49 cent rack at the salvation army, again, but decided against it.
instead, i'm going to demonstrate how much knitting sucks. i only learned how to knit today, from a $4 kit at big lots that was "ages 8 and up", where the end product is supposed to be a teddy bear.
knitting is ridiculous.

ok so the little purple piece of shit on the left is the result of ONE AND A HALF HOURS of knitting. this does NOT include the time spent trying to decipher the instructions. once i finally "got the hang of it" (after fumbling with the yarn & needles like i fumble with many other things) i calculated how long it would take me to complete the rest of the teddy bear, and it will take me 24.25 hours. for a little kid, that's like all of their spring break.
i'm quitting. you see, the object in the middle is a chihuahua sweater that took me one and a half hours total to crochet. the scarf on the right took me 3 to 4 hours to crochet.
crocheting is fast. knitting is slow.. this is why they have machines that knit at superhuman speeds, and little sweatshop workers to crochet.
well at least, now, i know how to knit.
ok since i have time i guess i'll rave about the 49 cent rack anyway. o my god, today i had a good salvation army experience. i browsed through the normal priced racks first, and picked up a few pieces, then moved on to the back of the store, where clothes items over 2 weeks old are automatically 49 cents apiece. in the end, i spent $3.36. i got (giggle)
-a brand new shirt from some kind of sample sale. makes me look like a lollipop :) $1.40
-some barely worn pants (chinos?) from j. crew $.49
-a brand new red sleeveless dress (fits like a glove) for fancy occasions $.49
-a herringbone pattern wool pencil skirt $.49
-a dark brown wool miniskirt $.49
apparently, size 2 females don't shop at the salvation army.
haha that entry was entirely pointless for everyone except me.
