First a little explanation of two similar, yet profoundly different states of being: Ignorance and Stupidity.
Ignorance is simply that - the state of not knowing (or not knowing better) where one is simply oblivious of the knowledge or idea being presented.
Stupid is ironically more complex - stupid is remaining in a state similar to ignorance after one should know better. In a way, stupidity is the premeditated murder of knowledge.
Looks like Ron White is really on the mark this time....
I am doing student teaching this semester and have run across a very troubling experience. While I do feel like I am doing a good job I am very disturbed by the two statistics I am about to share.
56% of my class failed my last test.
The average score for all classes was a 61.
And these numbers were kind of shrugged off by some of the other teachers as kind of par for the course here. The bad part is that I really can't tell for sure if I am doing what I am supposed to be doing because I just can't warp my perception of acceptable performance to include 56% failure.
All together, I am reduced to counting down the days until I am free of that place, then let us never speak of it again.
27 and counting, my friends - and it can't come soon enough...
