Giving Thanks.

Since this week is the begining of the crazy season I thought it would be nice to think about the holiday we're supposed to be celebrating (and not the holiday the malls are decorated for)

Thanksgiving is more than turkey and disfunctional families.

This is when I take stock of my year and remember the things I am thankful for.

I'd like to see all of my friends post about what they are thankful for this year. It can be silly and trivial, or deep and meaningful. Just remember to cherish the good things.

I'll even start:

I'm thankful for Franke's. Mnnn... Kolaches and bavarian doughnuts. *drool*

I'm thankful for my community, which has not pushed me away in the face of the difficulties of this summer, but rather gathered me closer and opened new doors.

I'm thankful for my medical support team- Thanks to them I am healthy and functional!

I'm thankful for my co-workers: Jodi, Connie, Vera, Jenny, Mary, Cindy, Sharon. You're there with a smile, a kind word, a peanut butter sandwhich or even baked goods on a regular basis. You all reached out to me when I was on LOA for two months... that says something about the people I work with!

I'm thankful for my job. I love it, I'm happy doing it. I'm not miserable 8 hours a day.

I'm thankful for my amazing apartment! It rocks. It's 20 minutes to work. It's amazing for the $$ I pay. It has tons of storage for my kitchen gagetry obsession.

I'm thankful for my bio-family. Especially my Mother. She has supported me and been my safety net too many times to count. I got lucky- I didn't get to pick her- but I still got the best one! (and good genes too- can't beat that with a stick!)

I'm thankful for my neice and nephews, who allow me to have children in my life that I love and adore, without diaper changes, runny noses and middle of the night nightmares.

I'm thankful for Porky. Who allows me to call him my adopted dog, to cuddle and play- without the pooper scooper.

I'm thankful for Groovy. My cuddle buddy and best friend. He likes to watch TV with me and keeps me company in the bathroom. He's good at telling me what he needs (which is probably the only way he *got* to 12 years) and he's good at getting me out of bed if I hit the snooze too many times.

Most of all I'm thankful for my Tribe. They have offered me love and support when I needed it most. They have been there for me through thick and thin. Offered me comfort when I needed it, a meal when I needed it, a roof when I needed it. I hope that someday I can return the favor!

Now it's your turn. What are you thankful for?
