This song reminds me of the first time the inner senshi see the Three Lights perform, but especially Minako since she is such an uber fan. When I hear it, I think of a girl at a concert mesmerized by the music and falling in love with the singer. “And then he looked right through me, as if I wasn’t there” seems to suggest how Yaten doesn’t pay much attention to or notice Minako at first.

We all love Minako, really we do. (Um… we do right?). But let’s face it: she can be a little… enthusiastic. She never gives up on what she wants, and she wants Yaten. Yaten does his best to try and stay under her radar, but as well all know Minako’s network even makes the DNA blush!

I don’t think it would be possible to make a mix for these two without this song really. XD Minako might not be number one in the Three Lights fan club, but she is definitely Yaten’s biggest fan. “I’ll follow you until you love me” perfectly describes Minako, or the way she thinks… constantly keeping tabs on the Three Lights and following them around.

Yaten is super gorgeous, but sometimes he can be cruel. Minako is always falling in love and is tired of getting her heart broken. She’s also just one of many girls that has fallen for Yaten and the other Three Lights and feels like just another face in the crowd. Also being so warm and emotional, she has to wonder how Yaten can not love someone back who is so devoted to him and loves him so much. I can imagine her just idly thinking to herself how her life would be easier if she could be insensitive like Yaten.

Minako hasn’t had the best luck in love. In fact, many of her love interests have ended up being enemies. When the senshi and the starlights start fighting after Seiya gets injured protecting Usagi, Minako has to wonder why the senshi and the starlights have to fight. She also wonders why every time she falls in love with someone, some sort of battle has to be involved.

Minako never compares Yaten to a firework, but she does tell him that he “shines the most” of the Three Lights. He also gives her the same compliment regarding the talent competition that she is in that he judges. Minako tells Yaten that there is something special in him and inspires him to keep trying to find Kakyuu. Also, which senshi is better to compare to a firework than Minako? They both felt “buried deep and paper thin" but kept moving on.

Yaten hates his situation and feels hopeless. He is tired of fighting and desperate to find Kakyuu. He’s under the impression all the people of Earth are fake and no good. Minako slowly though is able to convince him otherwise, as she is able to see the good in things. She also convinces him that even Sailor Senshi are allowed to dream, inspiring hope in him.

I just love those lyrics. It fits with Minako having blue eyes, too. Yaten felt like he had lost the ability to dream when Kakyuu was lost. Minako showed him that senshi can dream too. The song also talks about being willing to risk your life for the one you love, and Venus jumped in front of Healer to take a blast from Galaxia. The idea of the song is that the woman’s love keeps the man going and she is always there to take care of him, which to me fits for Minako.

I think that before leaving Earth, Yaten would be thinking about the way he acted on Earth, and the way he treated Minako and how she continued to care for him even when he wasn’t always nice. I think this song describes how he might wish he had left the other with some better memories, and hopes Minako, being the kind of person who sees the good in others, can help him to be remembered fondly rather than as a grouch. I also think he envies her ability to keep a positive attitude even when times are hard.

This song reminds me of what Yaten might have thought after Minako lost her star seed protecting him from Galaxia’s blast and then came back to life. What DOES happen to someone when they die? A lot of other parts of the song remind me of moments the two had throughout the anime. “I saw the dreams you never thought you’d lose tossed along the way” makes me think of Minako telling Yaten to keep on dreaming, and also how she almost put her own dream of fame to the side before Usagi and the others encouraged her to try out for the talent competition Yaten judged. “A tired song keeps playing on a tired radio, and I won’t tell no one your name”… Minako knows the identity of the three lights, but she never reveals it to the general public. Besides, we know her radio is probably about to spit out her Three Lights CD it’s so sick of them.
