I think this is the longest LJ comment I've ever written. Sorry. dull_glitter February 29 2008, 19:49:38 UTC
"Beautiful day,
wonderful feeling,
this reason to sing,
psalms meaning songs singing praises all day long.
Joy fills the weak,
joy makes us strong.
Filled 'till we burst,
songs of praise to the God of the Universe.

Despite our selfish selves,
despite all loss of hope,
despite our lack of faith,
despite our stony hearts,
despite the waning moon,
despite the ebbing tide of how we think this world should be.

Praise God from whom all blessings flow,
praise Him all creatures here below,
praise Him above ye heavenly host,
praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.

Gray rainy day, down in the mud for us.
Don't feel I can sing,
songs to the God in control of the seasons.
But what's good and bad,
flow from the hands,
of the God with the perfect plan.
Filling us with joy, all of this will glorify."

Dear Matt:
it's not what you wear that makes you who you are, nor who you marry or where you are, God is supposed to love everyone the same, even the addicts, even the showsters, even those who don't love him. This is something that I learned when I first met you, on the way to a South Bend Punk Show, with your Youth Group at First Baptist all those years ago. We slam danced to the Migranes and the Huntingtons with everyone and your youth director, and it was a great time. My biggest worry about you now, is that you seem to have shed everything that you ever enjoyed, even if it doesn't challenge your faith or damage your health. You seem to think all of your friends are so shallow that they'll view you differently because of what you wear. We're not all like that. I know it's been a long while since we've spoken and you may still have hard feelings about the cat, and if you disregard this comment that's fine too. I'm happy you've found someone to share your life with, Matt Cobb. I'm happy you wear clean clothes and have goals for the future. You really deserve it, because you are smart and kind and talented. I just wish you'd realize that it's not the things you've shed that make you an adult; it's not a sign of maturity to judge your friends or yourself this way. I had a nightmare after I read this post. It scared me enough to actually log into LJ and send you a message. I hope your life turns out better than it did in my dreams. Please, don't forget to smile, dance, and have fun. Those are some things God gave you, too. Feel free to send me a myspace message or an email anytime [Mia.Goulding@valpo.edu] I miss you, even if I don't understand the things that you do, and even if you dress differently: that's not who you are to me. I always knew you'd find someone, always knew you'd return to your faith as I found you that first day. Hope we can still be friends [or at least pen pals] anyway. If not, I suppose that's how it has to be. Give the "little woman" a hug for me. Much love.
