See? All those English classes were good for something.
Speaking of, I'm "registering" for classes now. The actual registering took place a week ago, but now starts the pleading, begging, bribing, bestowing of favors, and all sorts of other unseemly acts to get the classes you really want. I've currently got "New Testament as Literature," "Psychoanalytic Theory" and "Existential Lit." There is no way I'm taking "New Testament," for obvious reasons. I took 2-3 weeks of Psychoanalytic Theory last time it was offered (a few years ago). Which means on the plus side I have one paper written already, but on the minus side I'd have to read Freud's "Work of Mourning" again. For the fourth time. I absolutely have to get out of "Existential Lit" because it's Monday/Wednesday/Friday, and I can't commute 5 days a week. I'm trying to get into Science Fiction and this Francophone African Lit course by e-mailing the profs early to get on the waiting list, but I'm having trouble composing the perfect e-mail. I keep getting distracted by other courses and thinking to myself that I could commute 4 days a week and it wouldn't be so bad. Then I remember that's 8 hours minimum of driving. And my enthusiasm flags.
In other news, I'm contacting temp agencies on Monday if I don't hear from any potential employers. Well, I have heard from one, but that was an e-mail saying they received a record number of applications. Maybe I really should've applied to be a sea urchin quality control technician, but I didn't want to drive to Port Hueneme. Sort of a business-like post, I know, but not much has happened, and I really wanted to write "Vernal Equinox." So, there you go.
