Bray left Amber in the kids' room then hurried to the Cafe, picking up a couple of blankets from their room on the way. He made two cups of cocoa, taking care not to fill them too much, as he didn't want to spill them ( Read more... )

Amber couldn't help but grin as Bray led her over to where he had spread a blanket out. As much as she was always impatient to find out what a surprise was, she loved the fact that Bray would never ruin a surprise for her, and she gave his hand a little squeeze. She sat down on the blanket, legs cross and eager to find out what Bray's surprise was.

"Hot chocolate?!?" Amber asked as he handed her a mug, happily surprised. She snuggled into Bray as he wrapped the blanket around the both of them, and took in the fragrance of her drink. "Just like Mom used to make..." she said in rememberance of their first kiss, the time when she had dared to admit how she felt for Bray after caring for him for so long and keeping it so very secret.

She blew on the surface of the drink to cool it down, and took a sip. It was just the right temperature and tasted delicious. "This is fantastic." she said to Bray. Looking over to the horizon, Amber could see that the sun was berginning to set. The blur of colours from orange to pink through to purple was beautiful. She breathed a deep contented breath abd took another sip of her drink, grateful to be seeing such an amazing sight with the person she loved.

Picking up his own mug, Bray noted happily that Amber was pleased with the little surprise. He was glad to have the chance to do small things like this, to be rewarded with Amber's happiness. In the past, when they'd been involved in various stressful happenings at the Mall, these small moments of peace were too easily forgotten.

"It's beautiful, isn't it?" Bray commented, seeing Amber gazing out towards the sky. He leant over and kissed her on the cheek, then whispered in her ear, "Just like you are." It occurred to Bray that this would probably sound very corny, but he didn't care. This moment of contentment was not going to be forgotten.

Salene opened the door to the Car Park Roof and looked around. She saw Jack laying on the ground and KC standing over him, but Jack looked as if he was looking up at the sky, and KC looked neither irritated nor angry. She started to head out, to ask if they'd seen Amber, but she decided against it and turned back around, heading back towards the door when something caught her eye. The flapping of cloth from behind a large vent was a strange sight, and she moved slowly around to peer around it, smiling when she saw the two of them cuddled up together. It was heartwarming, she knew they hadn't gotten much of a chance lately, and Salene knew how much Bray loved Amber, she knew this was something he'd dreamed of while locked down in that hell with her, and she was glad for him. But there would be more days to come, of married life, they had a lifetime of cuddles to get in.

Clearing her throat, Salene approached cautiously, "Amber? I ah, hate to bother you, I wouldn't normally, but there's a small matter I need you to come help me take care of, you know, Tribal Leader business and all of that," she gave her an apologetic look, sincere of course, and her face was straight, not giving away her lie. The length of cloth she'd gotten was tucked into the waistband of her skirt in the back, out of sight, she would use it when they were closer, safe from stairs and other things that could trip her.

Amber closed her eyes and gave a little sigh. She couldn't neglect the tribe in favour of a hot choclate with Bray, it wouldn't be right, but tribal troubles certainly made a point of cropping up at the most annoying times. "Amber looked over at Bray apologetically. He probably already knew that she would go off and sort things, and he would uderstand, but Amber felt the need to apologise nonetheless.

"I'm sure it won't take long." she said, giving him a quick kiss. "I'll be back as soon as I can." She handed him her mug and removed the blanket from around her before standing up.

"Right Sal, let's go and get this sorted." She said, looking at her friend. "It's not too serious is it?"

"Of course," said Bray quietly, returning Amber's kiss, "take all the time you need." He took the mug from Amber, and watched as she followed Salene. He sighed - he'd hoped that he could've had just a bit longer with Amber, they were sharing such a wonderful moment. Oh well - once they were married they would share many more such moments, wouldn't they?

Bray looked at the two empty mugs he was holding, as he said under his breath, "Have fun."

Salene led Amber back out into the stairs, "Oh, no, I could probably handle it on my very own but I just feel the need for your guidance," she bluffed, "I'd explain more but I can't really verbalize it, you have to see what I mean," she added, still looking apologetic. Amber's hair was down and she was dressed casually, "Did you just get out of the shower?" It was a good thing Trudy had set up more than just a party, and Salene was beyond excited, trying to control herself and look serious about the "situation". "I really hate to drag you away from Bray, I am sorry, but you're getting married tomorrow, right?" Salene gave her a happy smile finally, letting some of the excitement bubble forth. "I think I have the whole ceremony down, everything we talked about, I've got some volunteers from the militia helping to decorate tomorrow, a few girls, they're just as excited I think," she chuckled softly and pulled the door to the Mall open, stepping into the second floor.
