Brady and Patsy:Tea Party in Brady's Room!

May 06, 2004 16:42

Brady jumped a little when Patsy agreed to play tea party, how exciting! Someone to play tea party with that wasn't stuffed and was alive! "My room of course," she insisted, pulling her back towards the stairs and past Mouse and Salene. "I'm not allowed up the stairs alone," she informed her, waiting for her to start going up them before taking ( Read more... )

Patsy smiled as Brady pulled her up the stairs to her room. She grinned brightly watching Brady drop her doll into the chair and run around getting ready. She sat into one of the little chairs Brady had for playing.

"What kind of tea are we having today, Brady?"

Brady tilted her head, twisting her mouth in thought, were there different kinds of tea? "What is your favorite kind of tea?" Brady spread the plates and cups out and the plastic spoons, the sugar bowl and what Brady called the "little tea pot", though it had once been known as the creamer, when there had been such a thing. "We have two kinds you see," she pointed to the big tea pot and the "little tea pot", "So, you tell me what are your two favorite kinds," that worked, maybe Patsy would just tell her what kind of tea to have, Brady had never thought about there being more than just...tea.

Patsy smiled some more.

"Well, when I used to play tea party, we always had tea with honey. My mommy used to make it for me. You can put lots of things in tea. There's Green Tea, and Black Tea, and lots of other kinds my mommy used to drink. But my favorite is tea with honey."

Patsy hoped she was making some sense. She was enjoying playing with Brady, they hadn't played together, just the two of them, for quite a while. It was so much fun, now that Brady could carry conversations.

Brady thought about this, honey that she knew of came out of a squeeze bottle, sometimes it was shaped like a bear, and they only ever had that in the Mall, it was too hard to get for the Eco's, but Brady didn't really know why. "Umm, this is," she paused, pointing to the big tea pot, "blue tea, and this," she pointed to the smaller creamer pitcher, "you're in luck because I made tea with honey earlier," she pretended to pour a cup full of tea with honey for Patsy then poured herself blue tea. Brady sipped on her cup and jumped, "It's still too hot, don't burn your mouth," she warned her while shaking her head. She picked up a plate and held it out at Patsy, "Cookie? Mommy made them, they are," hmmm what kind of cookie? "Sugar cookies," she motioned at the empty plate, imaginary food was the best, it didn't need to be cleaned up and it could be almost anything you wanted!

Patsy grinned. "Well now, blue tea sounds excellent. But I think I will have some tea with honey. It was very thoughtful of you to make it, Brady!"

Patsy picked up an imaginary cookie and pretended to eat it. "Wow, Brady, these cookies are excellent! You will have to thank your mommy for making them."

Patsy smiled as she nibbled on the imaginary cookie and sipped on her imaginary tea.

"Yes, Mommy makes the most bestest cookies," Brady agreed, nibbling on the air cookie. "What do we talk about now?" she giggled and covered her mouth, well once you poured the tea and handed out the cookies, then what? She'd only played tea party once before with a living person, and it had been Patsy, but she couldn't remember what they'd done. Brady pretended to serve Lily some blue tea and a cookie, looking at her sternly. "Now Lily, you know you can only have one cookie. You don't want to ruin your dinner," that was what Mommy always said anyway, and Brady looked back at Patsy with her eyes sparkling. "This is fun!" she declared, covering her mouth again and sipping her blue tea.

Patsy smiled. "Yes, very fun."

Patsy remembered the grin on Brady's face when she had come down the stairs with Mouse, probably to meet all the new kids. "Brady? What do you think about the new kids coming to live here?"

Brady was probably thrilled - more playmates. But Patsy was curious.

"Umm," Brady thought about this, the sight of them at first had excited her, especially when Mouse had told her they were coming to stay here for good. When they'd gotten to the bottom of the stairs, however, Brady had been afraid, they were all older than her, and none of them looked excited about other kids, and Mouse had looked down right upset. Then that one girl had given them a strange look and she wasn't so sure anymore. "I like kids," she finally replied, "Kids are fun to play with," Brady nodded her head and tilted her empty tea cup this way and that, "pouring" tea all over the plate, then pretending to pour it back into the cup. She remembered that Patsy thought they hated her, and frowned, "But if they hate you then I don't want to play with them," she said with a definitive nod. "We can play, right? They can play with each other and we don't have to play with them," yes, that sounded right, if they were going be that way, well, Brady didn't want to know them anyway.

Patsy put down her tea cup, a little stunned.

But if they hate you than I don't want to play with them.

Patsy didn't know what to say. She was stunned that Brady thought so highly of her, that she would turn down six prospective playmates just because they didn't like Patsy.

"Aww, Brady, I don't know if they hate me. They might not. And you can play with them if you want to. But we can always play together, you bet."

Patsy poured more imaginary tea into her teacup. She had her own selfish reasons for automatically not liking Ryan's kids, but she didn't want Brady not liking them for the same reaons. They would all love Brady, everyone did, and she was entitled to some more friends.

"But that goes for me too. If they don't like you, I don't want to play with them either. Deal?"

Brady twisted her mouth in thought, Patsy was giving her permission to play with them no matter what, and that was an appealing thought, but she wasn't so sure she wanted to. They had given them such a nasty look, and Mouse had been obviously upset by their arrival, Brady didn't want Mouse to hate her if she started to play with them. "Ok!!" Brady exclaimed when Patsy offered not to play with them too, it was good to have friends, and she loved Patsy, she was glad that she'd always have her to play with. "Patsy? You gonna live here forever too, right?"

Patsy thought about this. She'd never really thought about it before. Forever? Patsy guessed she would stay forever. Where else was she going to go, after all? She smiled brightly at Brady.

"Of course I am. I'm gonna stay right here with you and all our family." Patsy smiled.

"Good cause I like you and Cloe and Mouse and Mommy and Aunt Amber and Bray and Uncle Bray. Patsy? Why does Bray have the same name as Uncle Bray?" That was kind of confusing, though Uncle Bray had the Uncle before his name, but it still confused her to have two people with the same name. Brady was bored with the tea party now, she'd "drunk" all of her tea, and Lily had too, though Brady wasn't sure if Patsy was done or not. Brady started to clean up, putting the cups back in their places, the plates, setting it back up for next time, watching Patsy as she waited for her answer.

Patsy handed her teacup to Brady as she began to clear the table. Evidently the tea party was over. Patsy giggled as Brady asked about why Bray and Baby Bray had the same name.

"Well. You see. Your Uncle Bray is Bray's daddy. And lots of times people name their sons after their daddies. It's a nice thing to do."

Patsy sat back and hoped this was a suitable explanation.

"Ohhh," Brady said knowingly, that did kind of make sense. "Do they name their girls after the Mommies? My Mommy's name is Trudy. Am I named after my Daddy?" Was there a boy out there named Brady who was her daddy? "Patsy? Why don't I have a daddy? Is Hawk my daddy?" That didn't make sense either, her name was Brady not Hawk. She was confused, but maybe Patsy knew and could explain it. Brady finished resetting the places at the table and stood up, walking around to Patsy and crawling up onto her lap, looking up at her with big eyes and waiting for her to tell her about her daddy.

Patsy had no idea what to say.

As Brady crawled up onto her lap and stared at her with these huge brown eyes, of course Patsy thought she deserved to know. But not at four years old. Patsy remembered what had happened to Brady's father very clearly. Lex pushed him off the second story. Brady was named Brady after Bray and Trudy, she knew that too. Trudy had been in love with Bray then, everyone knew that. But she couldn't tell that to Brady ( ... )

Brady was confused, she was named after her Uncle Bray and her Mommy, and she guessed that made sense, but that didn't answer her question either. Didn't Brady have a daddy like little Bray did? "Do you have a daddy Patsy? No one has a daddy but Bray, why? Where is all the daddies?" Brady considered this again, for that matter, where were all the mommies? Brady had a Mommy whom she loved very much, and Salene was like a Mommy to Mouse, and maybe even to Cloe and Patsy, "Is Salene your Mommy?" If Salene loved Ryan, and Brady knew that was true because they slept in the same bed and he loved her and took care of her, then was he..Brady was so confused.
