The race begins.

My dear friends,

Originally, I had planned not to participate in Nanowrimo this year. And I had some good reasons to back up my decision: an already full plate, filled with church meetings and other commitments; job hunting; my Nano-novel from last year still languishing, unrevised, in my computer hard drive... But the thought of not participating was too bitter a pill for me to swallow. Nanowrimo has, I've realized, become more than just a yearly tradition for me. It's become something precious and, dare I say, almost spiritual. Just think - for 30 days every year, hundreds upon thousands of writers from all over the known world come together via the Internet to take part in this venture called storytelling: something very human, and fundamental, and transcending. I mean, that's exciting. And I don't think I can bear not participating every year, so long as I am fit of mind and physically able.

T-minus 7 more days till November the First. I have no story, no title, no plot, no characters. But that's not going to stop me. I'll have a 50,000 novel by next month's end. You wait and see. And even if I don't finish this year, I would be happier knowing I had tried my best, instead of bowing out before the race even started.

To my fellow Nano-ers, bonne chance! May we all have a great and wonderful experience this year!

Off to Nano-land!

♡,

Jennifer
